hi.my father owns a lancer 2001 model and the car has done 76000 kms.

i am facing problems in revving up the car.the car gives hiccups if i put 3th gear at 20 4th at 40 or so.after reaching around 2k rpm the car moves in ok.

also wen i try to pick my car at lower speed in higher gear the acceleration is really slow as compared when the car was 5k - 6k kms back.

please help me out.

3rd gear at 20 will definitely cause the knock buddy, On the other hand get your clutch checked.

Appropriate gear at right rpm is the solution.  You seem to use high gea at low rpm / speed.

Change driving style.

Never mind what others say, do whats right for that moment!

okay..but this problem wasnt faced by me 2-3 months back wen odometer reading was about 2500kms back.it has started some time back only and when my dad drives it.he faces the same proble.

even sometimes when i put 3rd gear at about 35-40 km/hr.the same problem persists.

Changing the petrol pump might also give surprising results!
