My dealer wants to get paid first before car registration happens and also before delivery. I said that I'll pay on the delivery date, but it seems this dealer is asking in different way. Can any of you confirm this ? Has this ever happened to get the payment before delivering the car ???

What is your payment mode? You can pay on delivery date if you are going to pay through DD. Usually they ask one or two days before if you are going to make a cheque payment. Because it takes couple of days to clear (Especially outstation cheques).

The vehicle will be registered only after making full payment.  If payment is delayed, so will be the registration process and delivery.  It is logical, legal and natural.

Better to pay by Cheque. Also take a Receipt of the payment.

There is notihng to worry. Untill and unless you don't loose all the reciepts of the payments made, you will not be in any kind of trouble.

It is not so easy to simply vanish with people's money if you are running such a franchisee.

Payment to dealer has to be given in advance before taking delivery. But check thoroughly that the car which you had seen/inspected after PDI is delivered to you (Chasis no./Battery sl. no., etc., should be noted before PDI and cross-checked during delivery time but before you sign the papers).

Never mind what others say, do whats right for that moment!

Hi Amitra,

you need make the full settlement before the registration . The best option is do the PDI throughly and decide your vehicle. Note down (better to take a snap ) chasis no /VIN no /ODO reading etc and make the full payment . on the otherside its too risky for the dealer to register the vehicle in your name with out full payment.

Moreover if you go for a carloan from a govt sector bank , there you need to submitt all the receipts of the downpayment before releasing the loan amount in your/Dealer name .

Regards - Marar
