Guys lets discuss the number of miles done by our cars and also the maximum seen by us on any car.

My Santro Xing:68,000 km (feels as good as new)

Seen an indica with 1,20,000km,still going strong.

Tata sumo:1,70,000km without overhauling.

Speaking in general... engine life depends upon maintenance, driving conditions & style.  It would approximately be 2.5 to 3.0 lac kms with 1 overhauling.  The same is seldom achieved (single ownership) in pvt. cars.

Yes, I understand - but have stated the engine life, as readers (all types) would like to know the longevity in general, and so that they can compare therefrom.

My car's odometer reads 36K.

Other data I don't remember in particular - would add later as the thread progresses.

Thanks Pankaj. This thread will help us to know real number of kilometers a particular car has clocked, which tells the overall reliability of that car.

Fellow members please continue the discussion in the format of the first post.

My first esteem 95 needed to be overhauled at 1,40,000 kms. Have an opel corsa 1.4gsi going strong at 90,000. Rest of my cars are new. But heard that the toyota corolla goes strong till 3,00,000 kms . Good for a petrol car. my friend owns a transport co. He tells me that the qualis has an engine life in excess of 3,00,000 kms also. So does the innova if not better.

Regards,

Vinay Pillai

Yes Vinay both Toyota and Honda engines go over 3,00,000kms easily without any engine works.I have also seen qualis do more than atleast 2,00,000kms.I think thats why the name is qualis ie "Quality Service".

Engine life depends on maintenance & driving style.

I saw one Pajero with almost 3 lacs kms without any problem.

Sold Indica DLG after 52,000 kms (engine was good).

Indica Xeta is running fine and 59,500 kms done.

My partner sold Santro after 80,000 kms (engine was good).

Fiesta is as good as new after 51,000 kms. Met with a guy yesterday whose Fiesta TDCi's was over 88,000 kms.

Saw Fusion TDCi with over 80,000 kms running in 1 year only.

Spark though only 2 years old but as good as new after 29,300 kms.

People dont change when you tell them that there is a Better option... They change when they realise that there is No Other Option..
