I would like to apologize for giving slightly misleading information about fords maintenance.I thought they are very expensive to maintain. But after reading Rajiv's and sunny's post i thought to correct it as it can loose a great car for Srikanth.

@ Omkar: Regular maitenance of Ford Fiesta TDCi is not high also we saved 50,000 at the time of buying by picking Fiesta instead of Verna (Price Difference) and that too when Ford Fiesta is a clean winner over Verna in Ride & Handling, Braking & Mileage. Add that 50k too, its good to save 50k at the time of buying instead of getting 25 to 40k more at the time of selling.

Now about our Fiesta, Car is back from Service center. And first time we paid price of any part other than Regular service. Reported some vibration, that whistiling kinda sound too.

Parts Replaced:

1. VBelt: Rs. 561.23

2. HSG & INS ASY ENG MT (gear mounting): Rs. 2303.01

3. Front BRK PADS (1st time after 51145 kms): 1149.48

4. Control ASY (A.C.): Under Warranty Rs. 0

5. Pulley ASY Tension: Under warranty Rs. 0

6 Horn: Under Warranty Rs. 0

7. Kit Tension Pulley: Under warranty Rs. 0

8. Nut Wheel: Rs. 5.58

9. Bolt Wheel Hub: Rs. 24.39

Total Parts Price: 4043.69

Labour: 730.00

Edu Cess@3% : 2.19

Service Tax@10% :73.00

Vat: 545.90

round off: 0.22

Grand Total: 5395.00

This is first expense after 51145 kms running.

well i also admit that comparing a new ford fiesta and verna maintaice is less etc etc... but the issue here is price comparison between a swift and fiest which are secondhand...... well if money is a concern ( ofcouse it will be since hes opting for a second hand car ) i would strongly advice to stick with swift only... well if the vechile is new we  will not be in good company with workshop person but as our car grows older our relation with the workshop man strengthens due to frequent visits ...in that case a swift will suerly be more light on your pocket and one thing more if u can get a perfectly maintained fiesta with correct service history and at the same time only done below 25000 i would say u can CONSIDER a comparison

@Rajiv

Certainly the cost for 50k service that too from a diesel sedan is very low.

no just a new driver, don't want to bang up a 6-8 lac's car in the first few days/months... pretty sure it won't feel good

So far no luck as swifts in used car market are those met with accident or 30k over the carwale valuation tool (excellent condition value) even though they are only in good condition...

Ford had a bit of bad reputation due to low no. of service stations & costly spare parts but now they are improving as for costly spare parts they have reduced their price to quite an extent.
