Grade Punto Dynamic Vs Maruti Swift VXI

Hello Friends,  I am using Indica DLS from 5 yrs and now planning to upgrade my car.  After reading lot of reviews,  I have shortlisted two cars Grade Punto Dynamic and Swift VXI. But I am confused to finalize between them. Everybody says maruti has better ASS as compared to Fiat so go for Swift but heart says Punto  

I have few doubts

- Still swift is having old engine. So any announcement from Maruti for new Swift?

- How much is the actual Mileage for Punto?

- Any major issues in Punto?

- ASS for Fiat?

- Performance wise which is better?

Please advise. Any comments to clear my confusion are welcome !!

The only difference I can point out is Swift is  a car.... well its just that, but the Punto is truly a "bold new drive" and is exciting.

Gives about 11-13kmpl in city depending on your driving.

ASS for fiat is improving everyday, but still cant compare to MASS for a long time to come.

Performance wise you might find swift better in outright acceleration as its lighter, but in the mid range Punto will just rock your drive.

Like they say you will buy Swift with the mind but Punto with the Heart!!

Go for it, Im sure you wont regret it.

We make the volumes, don't we? If everyone likes you buys Punto, Then only expect some kind of resale.

New swift is expected to come in the market before april 2010 when BS-IV comes intop force.

Fiat India is joint colloboration with Tata and Fiat, with the marketing and after sales handeled solely by tata. Trust the mantainence, And go for it.

There shouldn't be any doubt while going for punto.

Just decide the variant. Why dynamic? Rather go for active and get all the things accesorised or Just go for the chic Emotion pack. Its worth every penny

P.s: Even my punto is getting delivered today, I was as paraniod as you are!

There in nothing wrong in Punto -- it’s a good car.

Your apprehension of going against the popular belief (as Swift is a well accepted car from reliable Maruti stable) is understandable. But as Anshum said, ASS of Fiat is improving. You are located in fiats home town Pune and I guess that’s an advantage again.

@Akash - Punto petrol Active is powered with 1.2 engine which I feel is less powered as compared to weight of the car. where as Punto Dynamic is having 1.4 engine.

Did you got the delivery of your Punto? Which version u got and plz share your experiences.

I sugget if you can extend your budget you go for GP MJD EP. It is real VMF. I expecting the delivery of my GP MJD EP this week end.
