Dear Faisal,

My bro-in-law have swift VDi for last 2 yrs. Milage is same for GP & Swift but I feel ride quality, features offered & boot space is far better in punto.

Currently I can not comment on my first hand experience for ASS for punto as I'm waiting for my new GP MJD EP car to arrive in next week.

Swift is now an old look model (same look for almost 5yrs) that's why maruti have launched Ritz with same engine with different look & design. Swift have a waiting for 3-4months as I was informed by dealer here in Mumbai.

To my understanding pricing of GP & Swift are almost same.

Suggest you to go for GP

Hello Faizal

I agree with the views above. The Punto is a class apart from the swift, ritz, etc. Those are just cars, this is a Bold new drive.LOL

On a serious note, if u want practicality go for swift/ritz but if u want ride quality, boot space, handling, fe, features and a great looker go for Punto with your eyes closed.

Just for a minor (read important) point. Look at the paint of punto and swift. Punto has the much desired glossy look, swift is just another car around the block.

Yet in terms of performance no diesel car in the segment has been able to beat swift, except perhaps the old getz crdi, but even that had a 1.5 engine with over 100 horses.

Hope this aids your decsion

There is a perception that Punto is slower than Swift or other hatchbacks.(Just Like there is a perception that Linea is slower than City,Civic, Verna,Altis)

Just like Linea, Punto also delivers performance where needed. If we compare the figures

0 to 100 KMPH

Punto - 17.8 seconds, i10 - 13, i20 - 13, Swift - 13.8

But 20 to 80

Punto - 12.5secs, i10 - 15.5, i20 - 15.5, Swift - 11.96

40 to 100

Punto - 15.22secs, i10 - 29.92, i20 - 19, Swift - 21.9

Once you cross 30 KMPH and 3rd gear, no hatch back can beat Punto including i20 and Swift.

In normal life you dont start from 0 as in racing track and you are mostly at or above 30 KMPH and below 120 KMPH. In this range Punto is unbeatable with much higher FE combined with confidence inspiring roadgrip, dynamics, ride & handling

Aaah Victor,

Thats an amazing way to look at it. Never thought of it from that angle. But the perception is only due to the fact that it gives outright acceleration from gear 1, whereas Punto is slugish in first two gears but in 3rd its mind boggling!

Update:-

I booked my MJD E+ bossa nova white an hour ago. Will get it by Monday hopefully, as promised by dealer. Just hope the days crawl by fast!

Dear Anshum,

Congrates for such fast delivery of car by delaer in Delhi. In Mumbai it takes min 8-10days for delivery so I'm expecting my delivery by next week even after booking GP on last SaturdayCry Hope to get feed back on hands on experience from you as it was very nicely placed by Sandeep Singh Rathod in his thread earlier.
