Hello All,
I had to take the delivery of the car today, Saturday, 7 Nov, but could not since, I had not yet produced some of the documents, for registration. Now the car is going to be registered in the next week and I shall take the delivery next Saturday. (I owe a lot to Lord ShaniDev).
So today went to check the chassis number and other small things prior to registration.
The car was September 09 make.
Mine is Terra Tdi, so no RPM meter. The odometer is extended to takethe place of RPM Meter. Regarding interiors its full plastic. There is no soft cushion (on the door) or some stuffs which you find in Sedans. My friend was not so impressed with so much of cheap plastic on board. But I do not mind even an inch.
I asked the delivery incharge to start the engine. All these days I was so worried that, the Tata folks have refined the engine so much that noise is reduced, But no the engine has a nice solid sound, you can hear it loud with windows down (more sound due to Turbo engine). I did not try closing the windows and feeling the sound. I am so happy, I did not want a silent engine like the Quadrajet.
I also did not go for a drive in it, nor test the power of the AC. I have no plans of using AC, unless its terribly hot. So wont mind even if its underperforming.
The vibrations were very less, I could not feel the same sitting inside. I am really happy about this. The car looked solid.
One more point is, apart from the speed indicator, rest of the stuffs like Temperature, Miles clocked were represented in a very small symbols / indicators. The fuel gauge, heater (glow plug) were all visible properly. Need to get adjusted with such a small temperature indicator. Not sure, its Terra specific. But I absolutely do not mind the same.
Regarding plastics within a car, I absolutely do not mind it.
The car had done 49 kms on the odo. All in all, I am so happy I am getting a diesel car at 3.82 lakhs on road.
PS:::: I overheard a conversation b/w a probable Tata Manza buyer and the Tata Motors sales assistant. The person was convincing the buyer to go for diesel if you are driving 40kms per day. Lesser than 40 go for petrol.
I just recollected the day, when I was also in the same situation. But now though my monthly running is less than 300 kms I am still going for the diesel. I love diesel. No regrets though.
Let it give any amount of problems, I shall face it. But surely no to petrol vehicle not only now but in future as well.
