Hello people,

I will be in the used car market in 1-2 month's time.I want a diesel car ,preferably TDi,NA Engines and obviously Tata Laughing. My Choices are Indigo CS TDi or V2 DLS(Too underpowered ..still).

I have a Tata Indica V2 DLE .But ,Would Like to upgrade to recent models(2007 and above).

Has Indigo CS's available in the market readily?asking since it is comparitively a new model?Any Idea about going price for used Indigo CS Models?(Just to study,I have no intentions to buy from a dealer).

How is the Life of TDi Engine's?Some says Turbo can trouble and a replacement will cost anything above 30-35K?I am talking about Indigo CS non-dicor models.

Above All ,Tell Me How Indigo CS fares  in General? Is it better built car compared to Indica V2 DLS like cars?

thanks.

In case you upgrade to Indica DLS, go for Turbo model (same engine as in CS). There are no issues with Turbo engine (proven) - CS or Turbo model.  The difference in CS & Turbo model would primarily be of boot.

Performance of both the cars are good / at par.  Handling/braking of CS is better (relatively). Turbo is more comfortable - rear seat in particular.

Roughly speaking, CS of Jan 08 would be available in 2.75 to 3 lac - depending upon the condition.  Turbo would cost 10-15K cheaper.

I think CS TDi was launched in Dec 07 or Jan 08.  No material change has been carried out - except for minor cosmetic chages.

pankaj , the CS has had some - though cosmetic, but significant changes.

A new LX variant vas launched,

The interiors and exteriors were revamped. the indigo grille & headlamps instead of the indica's

analog clock, different door pads etc.

I doubt you will get a CS TDI. I'd say the life of the TDI engine is not too different from that of the indica DLE engine. About 80 to 100 thousand Km without a rebuild. maybe more of less depending on whether it runs mostly in the city or highway.

If you dont want the boot, look for an Indica turbo Preferably DLG/DLX turbo , 2007 or later.

the turbo charger itself costs ~15k, and if you want to be really cheap, and know where to source one, you can get hold of a used/reconditioned turbo for less

I think there's some confusion.  CS TDi has always had turbo engine (it never came with Indica non-turbo engine)...

Indigo CS's are indeed available in the market.Ofcourse ,not very common in kerala. But ,remember it is a diesel car and You will be surprised by the Odos of some of the Indica/Indigo's covered in a year's time

the thing is ,used car dealers usually put too much price.Regarding Engine life ,Will Turbo's last as much as NA Engines?Afterall Turbo is to be efficiently cooled otherwise obvious results na?

Dicor is not much supported by tata any more AFAIK(Moreover the complextity of crdi comes into play?).So ,Indigo CS or Vista terra TDI are what I stuck with.Ofcourse ,these cars are hard to get .

Getting Hold of a used Turbo Engine or Turbo Itself is not a big issue If You have proper contacts in coimbatore(Ukkadam market) or Thrissur(Pattalam market) ,I think.

All these models return almost the same mileage, i.e. 16-18 in city & 20-22 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).

Vista TDi has same engine as Indica Turbo & CS TDi - all Turbo, and is more spacious/comfortable.  Currently 2nd Vista may not be easily available in the market, and may cost much higher than the other models (obviously).

the DLE is the mileage champion

you wont get that mileage with the others

the power steering pump, the extra power from the turbo all reduce mileage by a small bit
