Go for Vista QJD. The car mentioned by you can not accomodate three people comfortably at rear . Don't consider Xeta. Vista is real VFM.

Many thanks for your revert. I can not go beyond the mentioned car as it is out of my budget.

I had finalized on Alto as it was within my budget, however my friends suggested Wagan R LXi or Santro Xing GL because of my height which is 5'11''. I was reluctant in changing my decision as the cost was shooting up, to which they said in longer term either of these cars will have more advantages to Alto hence do not look at additional cost of Rs. 60-70k.

All the other cars mentioned by you are petrol vehicles.  The Vista does not cost a huge amount over the V2 you were already considering - the increase in your budget will be offset by lower fuel bills.

Since the vehicle is only for sunday usage (I really liked that - havent seen many such requirements in India) you could consider a used vehicle.  I'm sure you will find a used Mahindra Bolero within your budget for the new car.  You may even get 3-year-old versions of the Safari LX (base model) within that budget.  Since its your sunday car, be adventurous and look around for the best deal!

I would like to prefer petrol verzion as I understand Diesel or LPG or CNG is advisable if the usage is very high.

I had searched for 2nd hand car, but Santro & Wagan of 2006 costs around 2.5 Lacs so it's better to shell out 1 Lac more & go for new one. The ROI for 2nd hand car is 16.5% & new is 10.5% so the difference of Rs. 1 Lac is again narrowed down.

I would appreciate if you can suggest from the car I have choosen. Rear seating for 3 can be comprised.

Rule out A-Star, as it is a small car.  Replace Xeta with Vista Safire, as Xeta is not a very successful car.  Test-drive - with family - Vista Safire (3.50 to 4 lac), WagonR (3.22 to 4.00 lac), Santro (2.75 to 3.65 lac), Estilo (3.22 to 4.10 lac) & Spark (3.35 to 4.45 lac).  Vista you would obviously find to be most spacious & comfortable - followed by WagonR.

WagonR & Santro have very good resale value as of date - but may be out in next 5-7 years. Resale shouldn't be much of a concern - in long term ownership like you plan to have.

WagonR & Spark will return mileage of 12-14 in city & 16-18 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).  Estilo would return 1 km more while Vista & Santro would return 1 km less.

That was very specific. Thanks. I have narrowed my list to Wagan, Vista & Spark.

From the other post I feel better to wait for 2 months as I am not in a hurry & i will get registration of 2010.

I have shortlisted Spark (ps or ls) & Estillo Lxi. Waiting for Spark 800.

Following are important crieteria for purchase

1. High fuel efficiency.

2. Low cost of maintenance.

3. Cheap spare parts.

Please suggest considering cost as important factor. Also suggest if I can go for offer of Rs. 6000/month for 60 months from Team India on spark?
