Nothing to worry.  Outside accessory shops - good/reputed ones - do take necessary precautions (wiring) & have the required expertise.

Thanks Pankaj. I have booked Spark PS. I know a good accessory shop in my area. I am planning to get music system installed from him. I hope I will not have issues in regards to warranty because of this.

Do you have any idea how does the workshop come to know whether the music system is fitted from dealer or other then dealer?

Warranty issues seldom arise - only if wires are cut etc.  Outside accessory shops do take the necessary precautions & have the required expertise (they sell/fit much more than dealers do).

I took the delivery of my car. Experience was not good as expected. I had to ask for demo.

I have following observations:

1. Car was run for 101 kms. Is it okay?

2. There are scratch marks near shelf ignition key.

3. They told me that tank is filled with 3 lts & I filled 9 ltr totalling 12 ltr. I had run my car for 30 kms, however fuel warning is showing low fuel i.e. 1 bar & E are blinking. As per manual this happens if your fuel is less than 4 ltrs. How can this be?

Thanking all of you who had given your valuable suggestions/clarifications.

1) The kms/odo reading is on the higher side.  Probably the car has been used for a few test-drives or office work.

2) Scratch marks too should not have been there.  It only indicates that the car has been used.

3) They may not have filled-up 3 liters.

Your experience isn't pleasant (true).  Though not much could be done now, but do bring these things to the notice of the dealer - the Manager or the owner (not the sales person) & see what best they can do.

Anyway, congratulations for the new buy.  Drive safely & steadily.

I will take up the matter with the dealer for point no. 1 & 2.

For point 3, assuming they had given only 1 ltr of petrol, I should have 10 ltrs of pertol. I run for 30 kms & assuming avg of 9 I have consumed 3 lrts, so I still should have 7 lrts of petrol. But as per manual it is 4 ltrs only. I am confused on this.

This means I got 30 kms in 6 ltrs i.e. avg of 5 kms only?

The point where you could crib was taking delivery. You should have asked for verifying that the petrol is filled properly.

Don't calculate the FE in this haphazard manner. You won't get correct results. And no point in getting anxious about it.

Fill up the car till auto-cut, reset a trip meter and then drive till you get low fuel indication, and then fill up again till auto cut. Now divide the reading on the pump by the trip meter reading, and that would be the realistic FE of the car (called tank-to-tank method).

Let go of the small stuff, and savor the feeling of a new car. Don't let the 500 bucks of the 10 L petrol spoil the fun for you!

(Then when the FE will feel low, at the end of the tank, don't fret, come back to CW forums, and read a couple of threads on Spark FE, that will make you feel better )
