Dear Dr,

Thanks a lot for your insights and inputs but as I am taking inputs and in the process of finalising between SX4 ( after having finally convinced my wife that I would have to drive it around) and Optra Magnum and as I am planning to pick the vehicle up this month will share my experiences of dealership...

To be frank and honest the way the dealer of Chevy has treated me is like a KING....personally explained every feature....spent almost an hour explaining different things, understood my requirement petrol vs diesel....explained both engines ec...All in all 10/10 experience.

Maruti- I own a maruti and if I go in for SX4 would be by 2nd Maruti but the delaer is least bothered and flatly no disconts offered on loyalty or for corporates....not very patient...I have gone to 2 dealers as I may be wrong rating One...thus went to the 2nd one....but the sales ppl had a ver cold approach. Would rate them 3/10.

Going by the dealership experience I would buy the Chevy any day but then like other ppl I am still more inclined towards the Maruti. Lets c I would surely let this thread know my experiences hands on till the time of purchase and after that also

Dont Decide purely on how people treat you.

Ofcourse Maruti is not owned by any dealer.

Make sure of your final decission on the product basis, not dealer basis.

In my opinion CHevy no doubt offers Good cars,But the service cost and spare parts pricing is at par with SKODA!

They do charge you good amount of money for Paid services.

I have not driven Chevy optra so i cant comment on the engine/comfort/road grip and other things per se.

I would advice you to Drop an e-mail to The MARUTI-Describing in detail about your experience.

And i bet you that the same dealers will come running behind you, unlike Skoda or other dealers who decide their own monopoly.

Remember its only us who can make a difference.

Sometimes we overlook such incidents, but let it not become someone elses havoc!

Whether you end up buying Chevy or not is just another part of the story.

Being on this froum i sincerely feel that as a customer at the recieving end we should highlight such incidents to the higher authorities.

And if you require more help on the same,we can put up a thread regarding dealer enquiries and E-mail addresses for not just you but many people having a bad experience with any dealer in their state.Innocent

With regards

Aby

Car wise, optra magnum is obvious a segment above. It used to cost that much not long ago. It won't be bad. Regualar maintenance should not be that high. Opel spares are costly though usually available on order. But not sure of the Optra spare parts. So, you have to weigh between a better car and a better maintenance backup. I myself almost bought the Optra magnum diesel two years ago, before my wife decided against it. Again I looked back at it a year ago, but price shot upto 12.6L OTR Bangalore and I gave up.

Thanks, I have already written to Maruti thru the website and explained them about the experience. Also I agree Optra Magnum is a segment above and after driving it feel the calmness and the power. I guess the Magnum petrol has a higher GC of about 173mm as compared to 165mm in diesel but would still go ahead and test drive the SX4

@ Gaurav , simply as a product Optra is much better than SX4 & infact it is one class above . There is absolutely no doubt about it as i had driven both. As far as attitude of Maruti dealers are concerned , i did have a same experience . They least bother about customers as they have got Swift  diesel & Dezire diesel ( Courtesy Fiat ) . I personally rate their staff much below than others . But that doesn't make SX4 bad.

Also spares of Optra is not in the league of Skoda .

Good to hear from you that you did the right thing by conveying your grevience to the authorities.

I really appreciate your move.

Do test drive both the vehicles in consideration.

Chevy's Optra. Its been a quite some time since it was launched so future is at stake.

About a segment above SX4 well I bet its not.Nor it has been ever. Its in the same subsegment as that of SX4.

Even if it is for some,i dont see it in reality.

Besides there is no point discussing a Diesel variant with Petrol.

Have a feel of both the vehicles,Drive them thouroughly in case you still have doubts.

I am sure you will get all the answers to your queries,No one else can convince you on your choice than you yourself.

Afterall we are just to help and motivate, not to make you choose.

I support what Dr Aby is saying .Only one suggestion,in case you like Optra so much that you want to buy it,better to buy 1 to 2 yrs old one ,you will be saving huge chunks of money. In case you only want a new car better to buy SX4 which will be almost equally good car and much cheaper to maintain.

I am not talking about HONDA or SUZUKI!

My intentions are very clear and check my posts,I have never ever compared the superiority level.

Neither do i go for VFM,In that case Nano would be perfect car for VFM.

Its all about striking a perfect balance between a genuinely priced vehicle and overall package that varies from individualistic approach.

In india 800 was a hit,not anymore.

People have become more concious to what they are buying.

Not everyone is lucky to own a SUV,no matter even if its the cheapest SUV at 20 lakhs.

And i still add in the end,SX4 is not just VFM vehicle.

It does more justice to its class where it stands,8 lakh rupee sedan which has much more in offering than any other player in its class.

Rather SX4 created a new segment with 8 lakh rupees worth spending on.[no "vfm"]

It would be unfair to compare the two at present-New Sx4 and ANHC.

ANHC being costly is with regards to 1.6 litre engine that they have in offering which even SX4 is offering since 2.5 yrs,the time when it was launched.

Its as good as saying HONDA JAZZ is a class apart vehicle but RITZ is a clear winner!

Are we forgetting something here?

Every segment overlaps a bit of the next by different manufacturer.

Then let it be Price, comfort, styling or looks.

But dont forget what power they have in their hood!

Ritz has more powerfull engine than JAZZ.

Irrespective of the vehicle make or class.

I must add here,i am not obsessed with SUZUKI for better VFM cars,But what they have in offer for people at large.

The heart to cater to needs of the masses, let it be anything-from cheaper to better.

The list is growing fast.

I get bugged up of hearing VFM VFM VFM VFM!

Comeon guys,What about performance!

Just because it has Maruti tag, doesnt mean it to be only VFM factor thats behind success of any of its model!

Innocent

Jazz is powerful than Ritz. Ritz 1.2 85 BHP And Jazz 1.2 90 BHP

Hi Guarav,

I am sure that by now you must have made up your mind, but here is another campaigning for my beloved SX4.

As you can see from this forum, there are a number of happy customers of SX4, so you need not bother about dealer attitude. Though I personally feel that i was treated very well by the maruti people here. In fact, better than most other brands.

Regarding the ASS, I find it to be the best. so dont worry about these issues. Having said that DO take it up with Maruti guys. If you happen to buy the SX4, you will get a feedback form regarding your purchase expeirence. Please ensure that you fill it up wisely.

Wishing you all the best.
