Hi Shaheen, i have chosen Black Colour (V MT Top Model) & have booked my car from Millenium Honda, Jamshedpur. They have offered me for free insurance worth Rs 25k approx provided i make payment within 30th of this month.

I have not confirmed for any additional accessories but have thought of a Teflon Coating to retain the colour, can u tell me wat neccessary things can be added on to it???

Moreover, is the music system sufficient which Honda people provide with the car??? What else can be done???

Take quotes of insurance from outside as well. For me the lowest quote was around 18K. As I had 65% NCB, got it for 9K from National Insurance.

Got teflon coating, 4K cash discount, reverse parking sensor, sun film and usual mud flaps, mat and free home delivery(200km). Take quotes from all dealers in your state. I had taken the car from Cochin(200kms from here), as I got better offer from Cochin than from Calicut.

Now there is Rs.15000 loyalty discount(don't know its terms and conditions). Now the dealer at cochin is offering free service till 35000kms.

Music system is okay. No need to change unless you are a bass freak!

Bargain hard! Good luck.

Hi Gurdeep,

I would recommend to go for anti-rust coating as must (more than teflon coating). Stock system of city is quite good unless you are a big boom fan. Honda is also offering high corporate discounts along with exchange bonus also. I was offered approx 50k discounts recently by a honda dealer including corporate discount of 15k (which was increased from 5k).

Thanks,

Atul

Here honda dealer is offerring a underbody coating for Rs.3500 which has a 5 year repaint warranty. Do try to get that for free. I am planning to do that during my next service.

Hi Shaheen

Happy New Year 2011

Long time since no posts in this column, i finally got the car (Black Colour)

it drives really smooth, the Ground Clearance is a bit low but i m now getting used to it.

Have u applied breaks when the car is at a high speed, the break shoe vibrates when i apply breaks at a high speed, is it ABS working or something else?

Dont worry Gurdeep

Whenever ABS comes in to action you will feel that there is some vibration on your brake pedal - which actually confirms that your ABS is working fine.

Enjoy your ANHC

Hi Bagga, Happy new year to you too. I was also busy with biz. Glad to hear that you got the black beauty. I didn't felt break shoe vibration as you said, and I don't use to drive above 90 so often. Not because I don't like to, but as there is no road for that! Anyways I will have a check on that. What Victor said might be right and enjoy your drive! @Victor ABS will come into action only when car is about to skid or so, right? So if I am driving straight on a dry straight road and apply brakes, will abs come into action?

@shaheen, ABS will come into play when the ABS sensor detects a lock - in two ways AFAIK:

  1. This is basically something to do with the wheel's forward speed compared with its rotation. If the rotation is such that the forward speed calculated using the wheel's rotation is much less than the car's forward speed the ABS system will kick in.
  2. This simply detects how fas the driver has pressed the brake pedal and if the rate at which the pedal is pressed is greater than a certain amount it is taken to be a sudden braking and hence a potential wheel lock scenario and the ABS system kicks in.

ABS does not depend on the road condition I guess - it will come into play whenever a potential wheel lock is detected.

In continuation of SX4 vs Honda city, im really pleased and impressed with my SX4 which has just completed 7000 km in 15 months. Recent round trip from Coimbatore to Bangalore with city driving in congested traffic for about 100km + Highway driving 760 km (Total 860Km) has given me an impressive mileage of 14.32km per lit.If highway alone taken for calculation it has given me more than 15kmpl. Anyone getting similar in SX4 or more welcome to share thier experience.

After 5000 km, mileage has improved by 2km per lit and driving is absolute pleasure as ever and easily i maintained 120kmph to 130kmph on highways and negotiated curves beautifully at 100+ without any wobbling or any sort of discomfort. In otherwords SX4 is stable on curves even at good speed.

If time permits pl go thro my travel experience from Coimbatore-Bangalore-Coimbatore with SX4 ELSEWHERE in this forum
