With all the possibilities that can happen even in once in blue moon long trips,i would suggest ABS and Air bags must for every family.

Reason well here

is something i wish to share from my long trip to ambala where i saw many possible mishaps from close quarters.

Including flat tyre at 100kmph, Near escape from a big Pig dead in the middle of the road-with trucks all around, minimum space to steer.

And ofcourse watching a Wagon -r hit an auto rickshaw that came right from the obstructed view of the divider[plants]

The driver didnt survive.

Sorry for hijacking this thread for some real help to people confused in going for ABS or AIr bag equipped cars.

I drive around 30 Kms a day......That too in the city. I love the way Honda city looks but it seems expensive. I can afford honda as well but is it worth the extra 2 lakhs....I like the way SX4 looks as well & found the interiors quiet nice as well.

What factors are important for you in your car - like Fuel Efficiency, maintenance, looks, performance etc? If you give them as per your priority, people in the forum would come out with excellent suggestions.

Also in case your usage is about 800 to 1000 KMs per month, are you open for a diesel too?

Linea cant be compared to SX4 as far as performance is compared,Rest no comments on Honda City except that its overpriced by 2 lakhs which indeed is too much for a car that has almost the same engine capabilities as that of full AT version of SX4.

In terms of performance,

- if we are looking for racing track performance then SX4 and City score better than Linea. (but in normal driving situations, you do not start from 0 with all other cars in the same line after flag-off)

- if you are looking for performance in the normal range then Linea scores far above SX4 and City.

Normally whether in City or highways, you are already above 30KMPh often and Linea gives performance where you need - in the mid range.

To talk in terms of data

 0 to 100 - Linea - 15 seconds, Optra - 10.9, City - 10.3, Civic - 9.6, Verna - 11.3, SX4-12.1

But

20 to 80 - Linea - 11.8, Optra - 12.8, City - 12.9, Civic - 12.3, Verna - 12.3, SX4 – 13.75

40 to 100 - Linea - 13.6, Optra - 14.9, City - 16.7, Civic - 16.4, Verna -  16.4, SX4 – 20.92

So, the feel that SX4 or City or Civic has better performance is due to the fact that they have much better figures on paper in terms of bhp, cc etc. But in reality the story is different.

Do not get confused with diesel and petrols being compared together.Your running is so very little you must not go for diesel. In the petrols,NHC has the best perfomance but is ruled out due to very small ground clearance and long wheel base forcing it to hit speed breakers and pot holes.Back seat of NHC is meant for shorties only.Linea petrol has poor performance and fuel economy in comparison and its back seat is also somewhat small.SX4 is a real value packed and well rounded all rounder with much better performance and economy,I get 14.2 to 14.8 kmpl in city with traffic

SX4 is actually 1/2 segment down from Honda City. Hence you can not say SX4 as a competitor to City (NHC). It is clearly a level below the ANHC, wrt to interior quality, Auto 4vs 5 speed paddle shift, Engine power etc. Gets beaten in almost all aspects except perhaps the Climate control!

Linea petrol is sluggish with poor interiors and very poor plastic parts which will wear out in 2 months.

Try from the following cars

1. Fiesta

2. City

3. Optra

4. SX4

5. Cedia

Fiesta's rear legroom is cramped.

If driving comfort is a criteria, Fiesta is the one for you.

Sujith your consideration for SX4 being level down compared to City is baseless and lets not fool around people on the forum.

Both the cars have same capacity engines.

Interior quality and Paddle shift well the difference of 2.5 lakhs in the top most model of city says it all.

I would rather like to say NHC is rather eating above its segment [Civic].

With a 500cc less of power when compared to Civic and the gang of cars in that segment.

Price definately is not just one area of concern, legroom, comfort, maintenance,Ground clearance,Better road grip are amongst many factors that speaks more in practicality than some fancy dream.

Needless to add here that SX4[a car launched more than 2 years ago still] handling is at par any day with almost 1.5 times more costly CIVIC,which justifies my statement for SX4 being not just VFM but a very practical sedan in any area you compare.

Even if you look at Fuel economy,NHC just didnt do fair justice to the pocket either.

LOOKS!

Well i wont like to pay 2.5 lakh extra for all those things even if its HONDA.

@ Dr Abyshines , SX4 is real one good sedan & it is VFM . But NHC is by no means inferiors . Currently it is the best selling sedan in its range . It is costlier by almost 2 lacs than others but still manage to outnumber all.It says about the car. Major difference is - Brand . Honda is too strong a brand for Maruti . So again here it is not about who is better but it is about Perception & Positioning & in this case Honda is clear winner. From our perspective who are looking for VFM - SX4 is winner not NHC .
