Yes, the new generation CNG Kits with Lamda controller, Advancer, Presure Rotator etc, the performance have improved drastically for CNG based cars. Surat is driven on CNG, thus there are lots of expert retro fitters for CNG kits in Surat and these experts now even guarantee for 100% performance.

It would be a smart move if some one can mix NOS shots into CNG Line, this way a small mixture of NOS in CNG will ensure that you get true performance of car. What do you fellow members say

That would be indeed great !! How much does this NOS costs? and is it safe enough to use? My CNG walla told me Lambda creates problem with wirings and becomes heavy on battery...something...thats why I didnt go with Lambda and went for advancer instead.

Lambda is the brain for your car CNG KIT.

IT decides how much CNG shot does your car engine needs when you rev up the engine.

If inadequate supply reaches the engine cylinders, means more friction because CNG doesnt have very good lubricating properties.

And by not fitting Lambda, you are just taking it to the next level=Insufficient lubrication at the cost of the engine.

This is the sole reason why it is recommended to sun on petrol daily for 4-6 kms in teo shifts of 2-3 kms each at the start of day and before when you come back home.

Petrol drives certainly cannt prevent slightest damage that CNG run produce but yes limits it.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Pankaj i agree that performance cannot match 100% to Petrol.

Probably i would love to come there[National meet ] with my vehicle[if i manage to give some excuse at home, lols],so as to let others grade the performance with CNG.

I think some things are better felt than explained.

I am certain that my Conversion is providing enough torque and power when needed[certainly not to the extent of Petrol, but definately not below 8/10 compared to petrol.]

I dont know, others might have different experience with diff vehicles, but certainly what i am trying to say is SX4 compatibility might be better owing to 4 cylinder and 1600 cc.

Others do post your experience.

said right mr. aby

@ Dr. Abhyshines - CNG kit fitted with Advancer behaves 90% like petrol. I have CNG 14kg cylinder in my Accent 1.5 and must say CNG is a boon when we see 1000s of rupee is saved every coming month. We can not however rule out the other set of problems which comes along with it like time taken at CNG station and risk of using the gas. We must be extra carefull with maintenance which gas kits require. Ater reading your post i do have some set of questions : How come your Car runs 180 kms in single filling? How come your cylinder gets full in just Rs 100-150? CNG is all about pressure, the more the pressure - the more the gas inside. How much presure do you get? Do you have any Advancer / Lambda fitted ?

Would like to make clear, my Accent runs anything from 140-145 Kms in single CNG fill which costs me something 180-185 Rs with mixed A/c use at pressure of 190-200 which reflects on pressure metre and I have an advancer fitted.

Doctor, still awaiting your response.

Nice feedback Dr Abyshine & others. I am also waiting for my new car Aveo to complete 5000 kms as my running is also more than 50 Kms a day. I will be going to fit CNG kit once it reach this Kms. As mentioned by Bike 2 car , Surat is having very good numbers of CNG stations & all car manufacturers ( dealers ) are providing CNG kits.

@ Pankaj Prasad , when you come to Surat normally ? You must be coming regularly Smile. We can certainly meet if you don't mind .

Of course, it would be my pleasure to do so.  I normally come once a year.

By the way, you must be aware of National Meet.  I was to bring to your notice the same (in case you have missed it).  Please make it convenient to participate & put a word of confirmation in the other thread.  Besides, you can join me & Kiran from Surat. Smile

Back to topic... CNG is very popular in Surat - probably no other city uses so much as much as Surat does.

Personally I feel if one is going for retrofitment, he/she should go for CNG (subject to availability).  Going for LPG (though power loss is less than it is in CNG), doesn't make much sense from savings point of view.

Yes LPG is not worth as the price is too high(and increaseing),as well as the average is very low.

@Pankaj: Yes Surat is big CNG Market, but given the size of delhi it might come number 2. Eventhough people can reach anypart of surat city within 20 -30 mins of drive a majority of car sold in surat are pertorl which gets covnverted into CNG based cars. Futhermore all the auto rickshaws, local buses etc are CNG based hence there are large numbers CNG retro fitters and mechanics available.

@yash: the NOS rates depends upon the size of cylinder, the 1.4L comes for 150rs (rarely available, used in few motorbikes) the 4L comes for 650 ro so. This are prices if you have direct contact with right persons. The auto freak tunners will have huge margin over it and it goes upto 1800 to 2400 per cylinder.

I am not sure if NOS can be mixed with CNG but there is something similar to Turbo charger for CNG thats comming up, its called Pressure/Presurized Rotator Kit (PRK), i am yet to get hold of any such to understand how it works. Rumours are that it gives better performance than petrol in term of pickups. Which i personally doubt.
