Journey Date:  13th Oct 2009 – 25th Oct 2009.

Destination: Multiple (Ahmadabad, Sambhar Lake, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi, Jaipur, Sambhar Lake, Ahmadabad and back to Navi Mumbai.)

Vehicle: Fiat Grande Punto Multijet 1.3

Traveler: My wife, my 8 months old daughter and of course Me.

Total Distance: 3550 KMs

Fuel:

175 Ltrs x Rs 36   = Rs 6300/-

Total Distance: 3550 KMs

Mileage: 3550KMs / 175 Ltrs = 20.2 KMPL (Approx).

Top Speed: 145 KM/Hr (Ajmer-Jaipur Express Way)

Route: NH 8 (Mumbai – Ahmadabad – Udaipur – Ajmer – Jaipur)

Toll: Rs 1890

Issues with car:  None.

Tips: Avoid NH8 from Udaipur to Ajmer, instead take NH 76 till Chittaurgarh and then take NH 79 towards Bhilwara, its 4 lane all the way. I lost 4 hrs on NH 8 in-between Udaipur-Ajmer due to heavy traffic. But was pretty happy and had smooth drive on my way back on NH 76 and NH 79.

Avoid driving on divider side, because you never know when does any dog or cow jumps on road from bushes on dividers.

Actual driving fun begins from A’bad till Jaipur and Agra. The roads are makkhan (butter) and it’s hard to resist yourself to take away your foot from accelerator paddle.

Completed 8600 KMs till date.

Nice pics...Thanx for sharing..

Can you elaborate road travel experience "NH8 from Udaipur to Ajmer, instead take NH 76 till Chittaurgarh and then take NH 79 towards Bhilwara, its 4 lane all the way."

Hey Kiran, NH8 after Udaipur may test your patience and it is highly advicable not to travel along with your family cause you may find it hard to control yourself to #&$*&@@ to the kind of traffic you get there. Its a single road.

I made that mistake while going towards Jaipur, but later learned that the route from Bhilwara and Chittaurgarh is the best way to travel. No heavy traffics, it's completely 4 lane and road is completely flat and pretty smooth.

Sandeep, it would be even better if you can add/write your observations/experience with the car - about engine/performance, space/comfort, road-grip/stability etc. - on the trip as well as until now (8600 kms). Thanks.
