actually, i placed order for "fiat punto emotion pak" - the fully loaded car at 7 lkhs ( approx).

due to the poorest sales support from the dealer in tirupur and cbe, my co dropped the idea of buying this car from fiat/ tata motors.

what could be a better hatchback car ?

swift / fiat punto / i 20 or can we wait for volkswagen's polo ?

my budget is rs. 7 to 8 lkhs  ( on road price)  and interested to settle only in hatchback versions ?

and some body says, fiat punto ( diesel) give 20 kms and some says 15 kms mileage.

any one knows the exact mileage of this punto ? if possible, i would also like to know about i 20's mileage also.

When you are willing to pay 8L on road, why don't you buy a regular sedan? Incase you are hell bent on hatch backs, for that price point you can consider honda jazz and 120. IMO, both are over priced and the sales number speak about it. Typical Indian mindset being 'bigger the better' a person paying 8L would always look at a sedan. If you are running the car in excess of 1200-1300 km/month buy diesel, else buy petrol with eyes closed. If you are open with buying a sedan, you can consider the fiesta,verna,sx4,aveo,city.

Life begins at 1900 rpm.

poor sales support???,not at all,i have had a good support from the dealer i bought my linea from,so you should check again for yourself, because there is no other hatch that offers a sedan like ride and handling like a punto, check it again, about it's mileage it should be around 20 km/l,because my linea returns 17.5 km/l-diesel

In 8L, you have many many many options.... and thats why the confusion Tongue out

If you are hard bent on Hatchback...then i20 is the best car.. reasons? here are they.

a) The biggest boot space(295L) found in hatch back car

b) 60:40 rear seat folding - present in base model to.

c) foot well is nice and large enough  (I found foot well in punto is not spacious, and one needs to get used to it to point the locations of ABC)

d) all 4 power-windows  - present in base model.

e) power steering  with scalable and telescopic (this is a new feature)

f) 5 ppl can seat spaciously and comfortably

g) Hyundai's got a record till now, No car they launched till date has flopped...

h) Hyundai's are continuously making progress in improviing thier after sales and service and all... they are not treated second best (after maruti) in the country.

i) Swift is good option but, 1) swift is been seen every corner 2) It is quiet old now... would you be interested in getting a new car which is old :-p 3) It is been said that Swift is going to get re-launched with their new K-series engine.. do not know about the time-frame though.

j) FIAT is well known for their poor customer-care... (You have experienced it.. Just consider, if this the treatment you received before you were to become a customer.. how would you be treated when you actually become customer ).

k) FIAT has got awesome engines...  the same is fitted in Vista .. You may wish to consider that.

l) Tata has recently launched 'Manza' it is the Sadan of Vista .. ppl say it is value for money car...  You can check it out.. but consider  the after sales and service (note, FIAT's customer care is been taken by TATA.. and you have the experiece under your belt for FIAT..) and build quality for Tata products.

wow!.. would go from A-Z... but i would suggest first get your requirements on paper first.. and then choose a car...  if still in doubt... post it here...   some guru would definately help you out...which will help me to learn too.

dear bala

i really feel that, u r quite fortunate to get good treatment from tata motors coimbatore.

they do have the brand office in tirupur also.

one of my friend also purchased linea recently. he said, he didnt care about their pre & after sales services, as he is well aware of it.

u know, we made the down payment and have given stop payment for the cheque, due to the worst support from both tirupur and coimbatore fiat division in tata motors.

if we step into their showroom and ask for a car of "tata", the treatment is entirely different from the request for a car of "fiat".

to the bad time, the dept managers in the showroom also have the similar kind of responsibilty.

to the end of the rope, i even write to "fiat punto", for which i got "zero response" from them also.

may be the other dealers, would know the value of customers. and even, i know the sales persons pain as i am also into sales.

in general, i see more cars of "linea" on the road than "punto".

may be "linea" customers would have been given top priorities...........

ha ha ha ha ! just for joke.

both "punto" and "linea" sounds good.

let's see my fate!

dear sagar,

thanks for your wonderful explanations.

actually, i am using santro now.

and my management have asked  me to change to a new car and have asked me to settle with "hatchbacks".

the features in fiat punto's "emotion pak" ( the fully loaded version) are wonderful. even it is with "bluetooth".

my boss had asked me to wait for "volkswagen's polo", as he said, it could be a better option in the hatchback. ( he is using audi a4)

in our co, we have santro, i 10, wagon r, innova, honda crv, elantra, fiesta, swift.

dear sagar,

sorry, the net got disconnected.

as we have good range of models in our co, we have good experience with different brands.

in our experience, maruthi and hyundai gives better service. innova, audi are new to us and we have to wait and see their service support.

honda crv - we dont hav much complaints on service parts.

but, as far as fiat is concerned, we are not sure. mr.bala has given some positive hopes to me here, as he feel, he is much comfortable with his "linea"

and the excellent point, which u have mentioned is " not to buy a new car, which has become old, as it is seen every where in the street - swift". i have the same opinion on that.

i use to drive 80 to 100 kms/ day. i am lover of driving cars.

my boss wish to offer me - volkswagen - polo. he is also interested in " fiat punto"

if u come across, any news/ info about volkswagen's polo, please inform me.

thanks for your valid infos.
