Hi Guys

Needed this suggestion urgently. I test drove both i20 asta and swift petrol/diesel in mumbai. I am a diehard maruti fan for its sheer driving pleasure but this time my opinion on Hyundai changed a bit. This change has led to the confusion.

I find everything in i20 (interiors/features/accessories) better than any of the cars in its segment today. I'm ready to pay the price for it. But as far as the pick is concerned I found the i20 asta petrol is worse than a swift diesel!!!

Is the 1.2 kappa enggine underperforming for a car of its size? or the technology is poor? I shouldnt end up purchasing a vehicle just for the sake of the interiors and accessories after all.

My friends say I'm used to driving a zen mpfi euro2 and thats why i find pick up of all other cars worthless!!!lol

Please advice which way to go...compromise totally with the features/accessories and go for swift zxi or stick to i20 asta?

Cheers

Hi all,

i20 is far better than Swift, you will pay some extra but its a good car for long term.

Swift may go for major changes.

1.2L i20 is slightly underpowered, you will have to go for 1.4 litre.

or also have a look of "PUNTO".

i20 petrol 1.2 Kappa is not good enough competition for Swift. As far as Petrol is concerned, swift petrol will perform way better than i20. However, other features are better in i20. i20 with the i10's engine is underpowered. If you are interested in i20 then look for 1.4 l engine or the diesel variant which are lot better than 1.2 kappa.

u may go for i20 Asta 1.4 l either Petrol (automatic) or Diesel (CRDI, Manual) if engine power is a prime issue....otherwise Swift is also not a bad deal either

i20 Asta is very modern and feature wise much ahead of swift, but it comes with a whopping 50K more than swift zxi. But performance of swift petrol is also miles ahead of i20. So it's a question of performance vs features (+ 50K ). If I'm in your situation, I would wait for the new swift and see what the new swift offers.

Hi, Though Swift has an edge over I-20 for pick-up and pleasure of driving,, I-20 is overall a very good car and it has much more car per car than Swift.. So my choice always go for I-20 when compared to Swift. All the best.

Hey Abhishek,

I would say got for Swift, unless ur considering i20 Diesel, which is way tooo pricey according to me. Agreed the car has got looks and great interiors and great space. But the most important part is the driving pleasure. U dont want urself to sulk later, trust me. As u would know i20 has got same engine as i10.

So my advice....go for Swift in this case. And if you can wait, there few new cars coming up soon. Max by 1st quarter of 2010, Chevy's Beat, VW Polo (that's one hell of car overseas), one from Ford and one from Toyota (with it's subsidary company releasing it). All these are hatchbacks and I assume wont be too pricey as well.

One more good thing abt Swift is u can make it look as much sporty n stylish as u want. None other hatchbacks can get that look. So spend those extra money on its looks or may be hi fi music system instead buying i20.

Regards,

Sumanth
