All those who are booking Punto or taking delivery or those who are considering to buy before Deewali, ask you dealer about this. That is cool 20k discount (12-18k on insurance and 5.5k on extended warranty).

Hi everybody,

Thanks for the quick response. I just recieved a call from the dealer to have another test drive on a new vehicle. Actually the car given to me for the TD was 25000 km old! and you cant judge a new car's pick up driving that.

I still have a feeling Swift will score over i20 in terms of pickup but i'm sure i'm getting more out of my money with i20 even though i'm paying 50k extra.

I may be a bit paranoid but what to do...after driving 800 and zen old euro2 model i find the pickup of every car weak. Actually I do not get the push back will acceleration anymore....could be coz of euro4 norms...whatever is my final desicion by tomorrow i shall keep u guys posted...thanks for the help again.

PS:

Bharadwaj: I found punto very heavy the car responds to ur commands a bit late. Feature wise close to i20.

Sumanth: Cant wait buddy. My zen is getting a bit old..its a 2004 model and throwing up minor problems every other day...nothin to do with major components though!

Bijs: The new swift is coming with the ritz 1.2 engine according to the dealer...which is absolutely pathetic ive TD it.

Cheers

Cheers

First things first, the i20 looks better than swift(though swift is good looking, it's been around for nearly 6 yrs), the interiors are very upmarket and better than swift. But, is it worth the exorbitant money you pay? The i20 is a fabulous car and it's a sheer driving pleasure, but is a bit underpowered. If you are a city driver you won't really feel it because you hardly cross 50-60kmph. The difference is felt only when you take it on highways as the car takes time to pick up speed. But then how many of us can afford a car for city driving and one for highway driving? On these terms swift scores. And we all know i20 has the same heart as i10, the question is when you know you the get same engine for a much lesser price, is it wise to to pay more for some additional features which you might never use? The question has no answer as each has his own priority. Answer these questions and then decide for yourself. I would definitely opt for swift if I were you.

                                                                                                      Cheers

Guys I had another test drive both with i20 and swift. I have to contradict myself here. Some observations I've made are as follows:

1. Overall both cars almost have same pulling power.

2. There is a slight problem however with the second gear of i20. When at low speed it refuses to pull up and the same gear ratio is excellent when it comes to speed. This is generally required when you just hit a speed breaker. i.e your speed is close to zero but not zero.

3. Features, Accessories and interior. i20 Asta hugely scores over swift zxi. not only swift zxi lacks the features and ICE but has no option to add them either.

4. Spacewise my family found i20 more superior. Also the boot space is much more customized with the 60:40 split option.

5. i20 has better brakes (both disc). Centre of gravity and grip on the road i20 edges past swift however swift is not at all bad.

6. Steering and ICE controls...again i20 scores over swift zxi...though swift is equally good i felt.

Keeping these points in mind I've decieded to go for i20 Asta and booked it right away...agreed I'm paying 50k more but I'm getting my moneys worth.

Sachin: Thanks for your opinion....

1. as far as highway driving is concerned for me its 3-4 times a yr and each trip not more than 400kms return. Therefore I really dont mind it as long as a car can maintain the momentum

2. Exhorbident amount...well not compared to swift but yes expensive than i10...but u see both cars are of different league.

3. Which are the additional features u say we dont use? USB, electrical OVRM, dual disc brakes...etc huh, i think its used in day to day driving. Yes i agree i dont need a refrigerated glove box but again i wont mind if i get it......!!!!!

Cheers and tanks for the input

Doesn't the new Swift ZXi come with an integrated Mp3 player & steering mounted audio controls? or are you planning on changing only the speakers?
