Hello

HAs anyone travelled recently on this route..

Pune - Satara - kolapur - belgam - hubli - davengere - chitra durga - bangalore - hosur - krishnagiri - dharmapuri - mettur - coimbatore - palakkad

.I am planning to start early in the morning tomorrow. would appreciate if I could get any quick reviews on the road conditions, good hotels enroute, driving diatance - any particular stretch which should be avoided etc etc..

Also I have another option which is via pune - mysore - gundalpet - bandipur - nilambur - perinthalmanna - palakkad - > how is the road condition here? - I could save around 250 kms if opting this...else the first option...

Thanks in advance

My friends say that Bangalore to Palakkad road condition is excellent.

For the alternate road, from nilambur you can take the kalikavu-karuvarakundu-melattur-mannarkkad-palakkad route which is better than the other. I will enquire and let you know the condition of mysore-nilambur road soon.

All I can tell you is that this route is totall fine "Bangalore - hosur - krishnagiri - dharmapuri - mettur - coimbatore - palakkad". I've driven on this route. Quite good one.

Bijs have also taken this route recently.

Not sure of Pune - Bangalore.

All,

I must admit that I posted the query a little late, I started early morning the next day!!!.. The drive was absolutely factastic....

From Pune - to Satara  to kolapur to belgaum to huballi .....the roads are just amazing, fantastic work - I touched 150 to 160 kmph on some stretches.. ) - Just before ranibennur and after haveri the roads start getting bad - its road work in progress and some stretches are really bad - davengere - chitradurga - sira - tumkur - bangalore - I would rate this only 6/10.. there are some good to very good stretches - but more bad patches.....traffic jams etc..

Bangalore to Thoppur the roads are again just wonderful...Thoppurs - Mettur - Bhavani - these are state highways and single track, negotialble - you'll get at avg speed of 50 to 60 kmph. bt from Bhavani to Coimbatore and Palakkad - your avg speed would be over 90 kmph as the roads are wonderful....

So in all the drive was fantastic...

Wish you the same experience during return trip.

OT: Are you based in Kerala or is it just a trip?

Thanks Feroz,

Yes I am from Palakkad, but working in Pune. wanted to get home urgently, ... going out of pune to Kerala by flight is a nightmare and very expensive, trains are always booked and heavily full, so by road was the most feasible option ...)))

Planning to come back via mysore.. to see how that route works.....

Seems to be great journey Ritzer.

Was it the Ritz you took all the way? How about some photographs?

probably will stop for pics on the return journey. I had posted some pics of my car in my album if you like to see the car!
