Hi!

please help me in finalizing the sedan car.

I am considering -

Aveo - I am seriously considering to purchase aveo 09. Nice car to drive good in traffic conditions.

What I liked in AVEO - all necessary features, good handling, 45000km maintenance package.

What I didn't liked - looks are good but not as linea, no DIS its there even in logan, Single airbag, gear shifting is little problem but I am ok with it, But not sure about the GM image what will happen in the future, resale price.

My questions about aveo -

Is it VFM ?How much is the real mileage on road? How much is maintenance after 3 years?

Dzire ZXI - Bad looks, it looks like car with hump. But good Maruti network is peace of mind. Good resale value. All necessary features. It has dual air bags if compared with Aveo LT ABS. It has 4 months waiting that too after maing full payment.

Linea -as good as out because of low ASS and in turn low resale value. One of my friend has it, and told me it broke down in the middle of a highway (got started after some time), AC is a nightmare. I am not performance oriented.

Logan GLSX petrol- I am ok with the looks, infact I love the way it looks esp. black color. Very nice handling. Good pickup, carsize, space, mileage, good Mahindra network. But very low sales figures meaning low resale value or discontinuation of the model.

Ford Fiesta. - I am yet to take TD.

I am waiting for SX4 to get relaunched. - But not sure about its pricing.

I want to purchase the car for long time - 5 yrs +. So how is the maintenance after warranty and 45k maintenance package period is complete.

My budget - Rs 6.5 to 7.8 on road.

Use - City + highway. Approx 1000 km / month.

I have a 2006 Nov Aveo. I simply luv its looks. It is very comfortable too. Initial pick up is not race inspiring. However above 2000rpm I dont feel short of power. City driving milage is 10 kmpl. On highways as long are you are within the 70 kmph mark, you get 15 kmpl. If you do 80-100, then fuel efficiency is around 13 kmpl. In my 3 years/17000km of ownership, once I got a bad window motor replaced under warranty. Also the link joining the two flaps of the air-con vents got broken- this is one low quality part used inside. Service term is every six months and they charge around 2500/- to 3000/- per service. Now I am feeling a slight steering vibration above 80kmph.  Thinking of getting a wheel balancing done to get it fixed.Overall, i feel the new 'fully loaded' aveo will be real VFM at 5.45L.

@Abhijit,

Any car which you have mentioned will ask for maintenance after 45,000 km. But you need to also consider the warranty being offered by company.Companies are giving warranty for 2 / 3 years etc and KM upto 1,00,000 km.

SX4,Avoe,Fiesta,Dzire are running on road for quite some time and running successfully.

The only advantage in Aveo its value for money Delhi on road prices are LS=5.85L,LT=6.6L,LT ABS=7.04L, 1.6litre = 7.25 , this includes corporate discount of 10,000 rupees and for 1.6litre 20,000 rupees. This i know as our lot of colleagues have gone for this car.

Abhi can you clearify your Budget[max]

And what are your expectations from your car?

Your daily run and traffic through which you will be driving this car?

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Hargan, VS, Dr. Abyshines..

thanks for your comments.

Hargan - Thanks for sharing your experience with aveo. I think Rs 2000-3000 for servicing after 6months gap and its price makes it VFM. Fully loaded 1.4 LT ABS is available at arround 7.1 to 7.3L. Are you thinking of putting LPG after the warrenty period?

VS - It looks fantastic in black and red its truely at par with SX4 in terms of looks. I liked its 3yrs Maintenance package. But mileage, resale value and single airbag is making me wait for SX4.

Dr.Abyshines - My max. Budget is 7.8L but this is a stretched one. I am more comfortable at 6.8L to 7.2L.

Safty, VFM, fair Mileage and low maintenace is my main concerns.

Daily trafffic run - I dont require car for my daily routine, but I will need it at least Four days a week for 40-50km city run and 4 times a month for Highway runs (Pune-Mumbai mostly 250km per trip).

I would suggest you let your temptations take a back seat for a while ....

Let the competition play its part for the timing you have chosen to purchase a new car[lucky]

Wait till january for few more brilliant options may come soon...

Its wise to wait and finaly decide amongst the options then...

Is it fine with you???

But amongst the ones you are choosing right now:-

1.A diesel car would do well, but then overpriced by 80-90 k[fair enough for returns you might get in terms of daily savings, ease to your pocket]

2.GM is producing good engines, but then they are not extraordinary on economy side

3.Swift dezire is good but no match to a sedan if you really looking at it[still we need to find out to what extent you desire a dezire...Cool]

4.Aveo yet to be reviewed in detail,

5.SX4 not yet launched[new version, even if it gets launched it might be past your budget, besides doesnt have an extraordinary mileage with the current version...]

6.Linea diesel might do justice to you right now but then you may wait for a while and do more research to your needs and the vehicles you finally opting for...

@ Abhijit ,   all cars have pros & cons. I bought Aveo last month & has done almost 1200 kms . I had driven almost all cars before buying Aveo. I found Aveo real VFM amongst all. Look wise it is much better than all except Linea. Interiors are just superb among all & infact class above. FE is almost similar to others  & no major difference. Interior space is ok. Only negative is gear box & that is also reverse gear . Done first service which was routine check up & experience was nice at workshop. Presently getting FE around 12 with ac on. So it is really nice car to be in. Other cars you can consider are SX4 & Fiesta. Leave Dezire & Logan .

Aveo is the cheapest of the lot but it has now dated and gives a fuel economy at par with SX4 which is a much bigger and much better car than Aveo and is backed by superb after sales service of Maruti.SX4 is giving me 14.2 to 14.8 kmpl in city with traffic and ac and this is really its strong point. It has very stron bottom and mid range which allows it to be driven in 5th gear from 50 km speed onwardds.New SX4 is launched and it is within your range. As a matter of fact,SX 4 is almost as big as the Optra and performs equally well.

Looks & interiors Aveo is better.

Mileage: Almost similar, infact a little better than SX4 practically. Some reported under 10kmpl in my city from SX4.

Service Points: Maruti is clear winner but for next 3-4 years you will visit service centre twice in a year (based on your running) and do you think after buying SX4 you need more & more service centers thats why SX4 is better because Maruti's service network? All u need is a good service centre and nobody wants to change even service centre quite often. He visit other station only when he feel the quality of service he is getting from existing one is not good.

VFM: SX4 is the best from Maruti and its VFM as compare to Honda & Ford but if I am comparing it with the likes of Aveo, I will rate Aveo a VFM car.

Resale: If you want to change this car within 3-4 years, Pick a Maruti Suzuki Car only. Resale is better but if you want to keep it for 5 years or more, you can buy any car.

Both are good car, Test drive both the cars, feel the power and space/comfort. Check out interios and most importantly buy one in which you feel better.

People dont change when you tell them that there is a Better option... They change when they realise that there is No Other Option..
