guys guys guys let me take an effort to bring some sense into this whole ASS issue which some dont seem to get it right.
I ride an esteem which is 9 yrs old. Yeah a bit of rattling otherwise she is fine. Once in a while I rip her apart like anything going over rough roads with no mercy and she cries. A few months and she behaves like a stupid donkey. Then comes the Maruti Service => Tell all your worries pay some cash and wah my car is ready again as fresh as ever. Now thats the quality of maruti service I have seen over the past 10 yrs with my current 2nd owner esteem and my previous m800 5 speed. They INDEED do wonders.
Tata service, yeah now they have it everywhere but I have my uncle who owns a new Sumo DI and another who owns an Indica. Both say it is the greatest mistake they made in their lives. Reason is ... a car may be good initially, thing that spoils the party is the attitude of the service people. Uncle says service guys are not even interested in bringing back a vehicle to normal UNLIKE ASS of maruti. Thats a huge HUUUUUUUUGE difference in attitude. Plus we have hell lots of mechanics who know right and left of maruti vehicles both be it ASS or local service station. Maruti mechanics all have one thing in common a caring heart for the car which I have seen is ABSENT in the case of TATA. So say Tata to Tata for time being UNTILL Mr.Ratan Tata himself intervenes and realises its not just about vehicle sales, we need QUALITY service and mechanics with gud attitude. Is Tata not paying them well? I wonder! People might be tempted to wonder why then laksh of Indica taxis rolled out => Go ask the cab drivers ---> Most of them give it for repairs and service in 'known' local workshops. Take my word on it. thats how that car went on. WE ordinary people cannot do it thats way.
Now the Punto. Yeah only mistake Fiat did was it tied up with .. oh ma god .. the disaster servicemen, the TATA. Otherwise guys punto is the best right now. But u just cant take a car going my initial performance. All of it ll be spolied in due course since ASS is gonnna be below par. I heard fiat has its own service section but still a rotten apple near, im sure ll spoil others too. and in remote areas there ll be no fiat people, just tata. And dont u guys see tata already competing hard with linea in the form of manza. so u expect them to give perfect service for a punto/linea. well... do think it over.
If its maruti, how the car is, ll remain for many years to come. Fiat, Tata the gurantee not quite there. if more and more people buy punto may be it ll 'turn out' better if fiat does give better service n/w in india.
dont u see 2002-2003 Palio 1.6 (the wonder car which beat a honda city in terms of perf) for a meagre 1 lakh! Atleast esteem is slightly better!
Dont go by intial power offered, build quality or anything. Swift has proved. It IS a gud car PLUS maruti ASS, it bcums perfect for a diesel engine. Ritz as well.
So my verdict is
1) Swift or Ritz if its ur hard earned money and u r a decent middle class man who expects decency out of ur car
2) punto if its ur dads money and u just wanna show off. and ur dad ll take care of the rest!
3) no TATA plzz.
Someon asked why People should consider resale => bcoz u r not gonna die in 5 yrs!
PS: ASS is the greatest thing in the hands of the customer. Do take adv of it. So go for Maruti/Hyundai.
