Hi,

I want to buy a new sedan. Can anyone please suggest?

1) Drive around 500 km in city (chennai) and 200 in high ways per month.

2) Can spend around 8 to 8.5 lacks (on road).

3) Looking for mileage, style, comfort, ABS etc.

Thanks,

Gerald Leslie Jones.

Hi Jerry, Welcome!

Please try the "Recommend me a car" feature. It will throw up a list of recommendations. By that time you would also have prioritized your needs.

If at that point there is a doubt, or you just need a confirmation about some point, let's talk.

Do browse the "buying a car" forum for hints and pointers about the purchase.

Once you decide on the model, then you can ask for local hints and tips (For Chennai).

Hi All,

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought diesel car may be better option to me. I was actually comparing Fiesta zxi and Linea Dynamic pk. Should I rethink about petrol cars? Is verna better option too? Thanks for your help.

Thanks,

Gerald Leslie Jones.

Jerry, please give details of your case if you want people to give suggestions.

From what you have posted, I don't think a diesel car is required for your use - there is generally a price differential of ~50k+  between petrol and diesel variants of the same model, which is not recouped if the monthly run is low. You better stick to petrol, as 700 km/month does not justify a diesel engine.

Remember, Fiesta's interiors, though tasteful, are rather spartan. Fiesta will be better for driving pleasure, as it has a better spec'ed engine.

Linea will give you ABS, fog lights, music system, and will have better interiors and features for the same price, as it is a newer car. For an overall experience Linea is better, although it may feel underpowered. If you are a sedate driver, Linea will suit you.

Verna petrol is not very popular (I am yet to see one), but the diesel variant is popular for heavy highway use, as the VGT CRDI engine is powerful and makes for a nice highway cruiser. Not useful for you though.

Yes the Verna CRDI has stupendous power but as your usage is low its no use for you.You can test drive Fiesta,City(My recommendation),Linea and find a car which suits you.All the best.

700 km per month !! never go for diesel car your travelling is very less, more over the price of diesel cars are more compared to petrol and engine sound is also more.

Now your choice can be Linea,SX4,Fiesta,Aveo1.6L/1.4L(2009).

Have a look of these four cars in the showroom before you buy are make final decision.

Can consider Honda City also.

Linea Diesel would be good choice followed by Honda city ( although costly).
