Guys,

I have been driving my TN registered vehicle in bangalore for more than 6-7 months. I had all these questions initially and was worried driving in bangalore. But believe me it is not at all a problem. All you need to do is,

1) Ensure you do not break the traffic rules. Bangalore police are aware that most of the cars are from outside of the state and they really do not worry much about the road tax being paid here (my experience). Also I have noticed that lots of TN registered people stay in Hosur and come and work in Electronic city. So you will be most likely caught only if you break the traffic rules and not for the other state registration purpose.

2) All you need to do is, you need to keep a recent petrol / diesel bill filled in TN with you. (I am not sure how practical is this for everyone. I do visit TN at least once in a month. So it is not a problem for me). So even if you get caught, you can show the bill and explain that you are here for very short period and will go back soon. Police men in bangalore accept that.

I believe same thing may apply for the KA registration vehciles in TN also.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your response.  I have decided to bring my 4 wheeler and 2 wheeler TN registered to Bangalore.  I have successfully applied for NOC and will get it tomorrow.

Will wait for a few months and decide on paying the local tax and re-registration if required.

For re-registration I heard it is around 85% of initial Road tax paid in TN.

Regards

Srini

Do keep in mind that once you apply for NOC, you need to change your registration in one year time. Because your number will be deleted from TN RTO register after one year.

Hi Venki,

   I am a new member.

I face the same problem that I need to shift my Alto from Bangalore to chennai since I have relocated to chennai.

What are the procedures and costs involved. Is it worth going thru these steps or better sell it off in bangalore and buy a new one in chennai. Thanx for your advice.

Thanks Vignesh for quick reply but I have heared that we have to pay road tax subjected to the state where we are moving for one year if we are moving there not more than one year but if we are going to stay there for more than that we have to Re- register the vehical to that state. In My case i will be here less than oe year so I guess I have to pay the "road Tax"  but I am not sure how much is that and how to do that etc.

Please advise if you are sure about it .

Regards

manoj
