Dear All Experts,

I am looking for a quality music system for my GETZ Prime GVS (Special Edition). My budget is maximum upto 20K. I have already chosen one HU for my car after studying through internet. My choice is Pioneer DEH-P5190UB (With bill MRP- 12990/-, dealers will offer discount on this price) due to its rich features like 3 RCA pre-outs, EEQ 7-band digital graphic equaliser and provisions for USB/iPod and iPhone. Please note that I am not in favour of installing DVD system due to the size of my car. I have following queries:-

1) Do u think, my choice of HU is right? Please comment

2) Through this forum, I came to know that JBL speakers are quite qualitative. Please suggest me with model numbers, size and price for Rear as well as front speakers. The front speakers will be installed on door panel and rear ones on rear parcel tray (wooden plank). I do listen to mainly Ghazals, Instrumental, melodius songs and western solo/soft numbers whereas my wife listenes to latest and fast numbers with beats. So, it is evident that a reasonable (Not extra Bass) amount of bass is required to keep my wife's interest but for me crystal clear sound (words/Pitch Clarity) is very important. Kindly suggest balanced speakers combination (both Rear and Front) to keep both of our interest alive as I cannot compromise on sound clarity just for the sake of extra bass.

3) I heard a lot about JBL- GT5- S396, JBL- GTO - 937/938/947. Which of these models could be ideal for me keeping in mind my sound preferences and budget.

4) Can Blaupunkt/Velocity speakers matches anywhere with JBL speakers. If yes then please suggest me the model numbers with size and price.

Waiting for an early reply from the experts.

Regards

Sidhartha

Hi Sidhartha
You can also consider Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993 CD receiver, Alpine CDA-9887
Velocity is high end speakers of Blaupunkt it is far better than JBL speakers and also price is high.
If you are planning to buy a receiver with built in powerful amplifier (No external amplifier) then I will suggest limiting the watts of the speaker between 60 to 80 Watts.
Choose speakers with high sensitivity ratings (over 90 dB) and wide spectrum of frequency 35Hz to 27 KHz.
Front Component Speaker: JBL, Polk
Rear Co-axial Speaker: JBL, Polk

Ashwin - The HU's mentioned by your near almost 18k. So they are kinda out of budget.

@Sidhartha: I wouldn't suggest a GT5.

608C would cost around 4-4.5k

651 would cost around 3k

691 would cost around 4500.

Oval speakers have more air to it and more surface area. So they perform better.

Dear Ami/Ashwin/Others,

I'll always prefer Oval spekers for the rear.

Ami, the prices mentioned by you, I suppose grey market prices or with (B & W). Please clarify.

Ashwin, If I go for the HU's suggested by you. My budget will exceed. What about my choice of HU Pioneer DEH-P5190 UB. Please comment on my choice. Please tell me, if it can drive these speakers well: front JBL 608C and rear Polk DB 690/691 (COMPATIBILITY ISSUE) as I am looking for sweet clear sound with reasonable bass. Please clarify me if any distortion will take place in speakers, incase (though sometimes) I increase the volume.

Is LPF/HPF available in Pioneer DEH-P5190 UB?

I have heard a lot about DEH-P6050 UB (2008, grey version). Is it better than or equivalent to DEH-P5190UB? If it is better, then in what respect?

I am nowhere getting DEH-P6050UB (2008, grey version), though I am getting 2DIN 6050 everywhere. Can anybody suggest, where in Kolkata, I'll get this DEH-P6050UB.

Which one is a better option among Db690/691 and in what respect?

Is Subs or Amps is compulsory with the above to get a quality output.

Please revert.

Still waiting for reply.

Today I have contacted some reputed dealers in Kolkata. One of them has given the following quotation: -

HU- Pioneer 7150- 10K (Without B & W), since I am nowhere getting 6050 (2008, grey version). The dealer is recommending 7150 over 6050. Is 7150 having better features than 6050?

Front- JBL- 608C- Rs 6300/- without B & W

JBL GT5- S265- Rs.5100/- with bill and warranty

Rear- Db 690- Rs.4950/- (With warranty but without pakka bill)

Db 691- Rs.6750/- (With warranty but without pakka bill), in case of pakka bill I have to bear the additional VAT.

         JBL GTO 947- Rs.5400/- without B & W

MDF wooden plank (3")-  Rs.850/-

One dealer has also recommended for HU- JVC 606 (7.8k with b & w)

Please suggest, if prices are Ok. Also suggest me the perfect combination among this for qualitative, impressive, distortion free, crystal clear sound and reasonable bass.

I need some review of Pioneer 7150.
