Mr Ghatak now i am feeling helpless as i have gone for spark avoiding maruti"s alto which gives easily mileage of 15kmpl but now my condition is like famous hindi fact "ab pachtaye hot kya jub chidiya chug gayee khet" Actually we people caught in trap of big ad and claims of multinational companies and may be many of us like in many cities are feeling same but dont have knowledge to share their feeling on platform like this and so now we have no way expect to bear spark pinch every time at petrol pump because dealers are actually making us fool by waiting and waiting for service after service so best of luck friend for you and also for me and many of us like this

Dear friend Ghatak,we people caught in nice ad and claims of multinational companies but fell on ground when face reality like u and me and many more like us,actually i initially want to go for alto but caught in 47k discounts and features and 3 years free service i opt for spark but now i have to feel pinch of this spark everybody i visit petrol pump and also like u i always remind my old maruti 800 ac car which gives nice average of over 15kmpl,but now we are nowhere and these dealers will make us fool by waiting for service after service to get good average which is looking day dreaming at present,so best of luck for all of us who are suffering pinch of cars like spark on petrolpumps

PK, Ghatak, Let's go systematic here.

I am not connected with Chevvy in any way. But I think that the mileages you get should not be as low as 10 kmpl. The average indicated in the review section is 13 kmpl in city and 16-17 on highways. Your vehicles are new, and the mileage may improve on further servicing, but right off the bat, the mileage should be better.

First off, Have you gone through these tips for good FE?

Do you see yourself following these points religiously? For Ghatak, I am sure he must be following, as he has a prior experience with WagonR, and he was getting pretty decent FE out of it. But PK?Go through the entire section and tell me where you stand about each point, if you differ in practice with the recommendation.

We will go to the next step from there, and by the end of this exercise, we would be having you both getting the range shown reported by others. That is, unless your cars or driving styles have any serious, unsurmountable flaws.

Wotsay?

Krishna, what they have said is experienced by my friend as well,This car is no 16 litre beast that driving fast wolud give them such a low mileage...

In my view also for the fact that with full tank after a refill in my friends car,the guage meter empties very fast, probably as fast as my sx4 although thats not the way i have checked, but yes with proper setting up the trip meter and noting down the final kms run...

I dont remeber the exact calculations but yes it was close to 11 kms pl...

Which is very low for a car of that size...

The engine power is good but guess it drinks gas like cola...LOL

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Last year My brother & myself had booked Spark after taking test rides & hard bargaining. He took delivery (white colour ) & currently enjoyes 11.5kmpl in city & 13.5 on highway.I cancelled my booking & instead got a Logan Petrol 1.4 & getting 19kmpl on highway. For city use I have kept my old M800 ( all my relatives & freinds suggested me not to sell  rather use it in city )

So the morale of the story is that, the spark gives 'relatively low FE'?

Any other members with spark experience?

Dear friends how lucky vishal is to retain his old maruti 800 ac which i lost just for 28k 96 model for spark and  i remember my maruti every time at petrol pump which gave me fine mileage of over 15kmpl with least maintance in 10 years & now after knowing moral of story what can i do except sharing my views on this platform so that other people may not get trap in fancy ads and moreover why only spark one of my friend is saying that his new santro is also giving mileage of 10kmpl in delhi,i think threre may be more people in our country with such bitter experiences with their new styled fancy cars but we are not aware of their experiences, and very few of us share on this platform

Hi Friends,

I purchased Spark before 2 months. I covered 850 km till now. I am also getting very less mileage, 10-11 in city with out AC.Recently i had gone for a trip to mysore,I got nearly 15-16 km on high way with AC on most of the time, i thought i would get 18 on highway.I had my 1st service 1 month back.

I expected more mileage in bangalore city. When i enquired people before i buy the car, every one gave very good figures.

I will change my petrol bunk where i regularly go and see if there is any improvement.

Hope the mileage figure increases with more usage.

Friends, I would like to investigate what is wrong with Spark. It is so uncharacteristic that a 1000 cc vehicle is giving such a low mileage, when comparable vehicles do much better.

I would like to drive a spark from Washi to Kihim beach and back for the National Meet, and measure its FE carefully, using all 'normal' care one can take for maximizing FE. (no fancy-pants stuff, I promise to forget any I know.)

Any Spark owner who is attending and is unhappy about the mileage is requested to offer his car for this run. I expect some response on this very thread. Thanks in advance!
