Suggestions to improve CARWALE.com !!! Do you have any???

Hi guys yet again,One more thread to improve CARWALE...

This time its to make this site climb to number 1 Slot...

And am sure constant endeavours will make it happen...

I feel although the plain background[white,loads faster than other sites of same genre],needs an urgent attention...

Its monotonous and feels dull taking in account the thrill and excitement each member of carwale has in stored...

Any comments mods...?

I think there should be a way to tie up with mobile messaging and texting the details of important events all over india to each and every member at CARWALE.com

That will help giving a connect feeling to each member of CARWALE...[''You are important to us"]

At present what each member feels and needs is , some sort of connect feeling that will be generated with new and improved ideas...

Mobilising the minds of people at carwale is what is required...

I think what we do is not that important, but to grab an oppurtinity first hand as it comes [ an idea that brings you forefront to what we know as INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS THAT TOO A PIONEERING ONE, for the rest of the world to follow]

Tremendous oppurtunities awaits each individual at the end of the day...Some times circumstances prevents us from grabbing one...

Aby - to put things in perspective, Banwari is not a very active browser here, and would look at it may be once in a couple of days. I am sure he tries to give this some time from his busy schedule. One thing is clear, though - Everything said here in this forum (Help us Improve) is considered, thought over, and responded, without exception, for all sane suggestions (I believe the above suggestion qualifies )

Please don't get impatient with the response.

A first step to increase members' interactions would be to allow private messaging (PM) on the forum. This is already being discussed, and will most probably be implemented soon.

Of course, the response to the exact suggestion above should and will come from Banwari alone, and we should wait for it to come through.

I think thats a very apt idea...

Can we have an option of uploading videos in the gallery archive???

[ Although a tough job,but mods need to look at every video uploaded for the content restrictions]

Aby, the world over people use Youtube or Vimeo or Videojug or some other video hosting site to upload their videos and link them to their sites. The infrastructure required for a video archive is specialized, and server space/bandwidth hogging. I don't see how it would be beneficial over and above linking to a Youtube video.

Probably what can be done is have a section where thumbnails of screengrabs from a specific Youtube channel (to be set in the profile by the user) can be made available with corrosponding youtube video titles with links to the actual video opening in another tab / window. This is just a rough idea to start design with.

I saw a post that was top 7 cars in 4-5L range.

Now a post like that needs to have a 'voting form' where members can vote/rank/say yes-no. You can moderate forms before they go online. That will help you/users in many ways:

1. You have results that you can publish, user's choices on carwale ;)

2. The post like 'top 7 cars in 4-5L range' becomes meaningful. In its current form, I didn't feel like reading it because it didn't seem to be pointing to anywhere.

I believe voting forms (if not already present) will significantly alter the forums when it comes to information capturing where necessary. But yes they need to go through or be initiated by moderators else, it can be a little messy.

Thanks for the suggestions.

First off, just a small FYI. CarWale.com is India's by far number one auto website in every possible way one can consider be it unique visitors, visitors, page views, registered members etc. When I say auto website, I include auto OEM websites, third party websites and independant forums/communities. So, you can start spreading the word and feel proud about it from day one. Now, if you are talking about CarWale as a community/forum, we are no 2.

The look and feel will be upgraded to have optional themes (only forum/community and not site). So it will come in phases. A community name first then a new design for it.

You have heard it right. PM is on cards and it's coming real soon.

Though we have our own video server and video streaming capabilities, I feel we should start with YouTube. Not because we want to save on bandwidth charges but because it will spread the word. We can always watermark our videos to include 'For CarWale.com' or something. Apart from content filtering issues, we also need to address the fact that we need enough enthusiasts to share videos. A section wouldn't look nice if it has got no or very few videos.

Nice suggestion. We have polls in forum on our cards, but not too soon. Maybe a month later.

I think I have addressed all the queries. Am I missing any?
