Scorpio has satisfied customers all the time. It is a manly vehicle so tends to be a little rough. In the end it will all come down to your own skills at handling the SUV. All in all, Scorpio is a mile muncher and compared to Safari, much more reliable and hassle free.

You can read the experiences of some very satisfied customers here.

well if to choose one frm them then it would be the scorpio as per the performance and price and other factors.

Performance - the Safari's 2.2 produces about 22 bhp of output and 30+ nm of torque more than the Mahindra's.  It is a better performer without doubt.  The Scorpio was a better performer than the Safari till about 2004 when the Dicor engines first came out.

Price - the 2.2 LX is probably the cheapest SUV around with a new generation engine.

Reliability - both are equally good or equally bad depending on your POV.

Space & Comfort - no contest, its the Safari.

High-speed handling - Safari

City driving, parking, et al - Scorpio

If your usage is primarily in the city, the Scorpio will serve you well.  If you do or plan to do a lot of mile-munching you cant make a better choice than the Safari for upto twice the price you pay for one. Unmatched mile-munching, comfort and bad-roadability upto 25 lakhs guaranteed.

Guys my 2 cents..i owned a scorpio for 4 years and must say i pretty satisfied with it. When i decided to upgrade i was divided between Scorpio and Safari. Almost everyone advised me against buying a Safari and most forums also encouraged me to either go for a scorpio or a Innova. I went ahead and bought a Safari. One year later...this is my story

SAFARI ROCKS...i am totally in love this car and i am glad i wasn't influenced by these forums and the naysayers . Scorpio is a decent buy and you wont go wrong by buying it...but Safari is nirvana.

Having owned both, in my opinion Safari is the king !! its gives me an adrenalin rush even after a year..i now know about 20-30 Safari owners and the all feel the same.

i aint saying buy a Safari..but dont get influenced by nay sayers..all the stories abt Safari is perception..half the guys writing that here have never driven or owned a Safari...once who have...will only have good things to say..

the scorpio would be preffered over the safari in my opinion. The scorpio is more of an advanced vehicle than the safari. The recently launched scorpio this year has many changes made to it, to start with the engine which is technologically advand\ced than the engine the safari carries, also the design has some changes made to it.

Mileage wise i would againsay the scorpio edges the safari, maybe by a fraction and also now the scorpio is also equipped with additional safety features like the airbags and ABS.

Umm - exactly how?  Seeing that the engine in the Safari produces more (22 bhp more) power and is giving an economy rate of 15 kmpl on a regular basis - which I believe is impressive for a 2-tonne vehicle.

This is great - more safety is always welcome. How is that an advantage though, given that the other vehicle has had these features for over 5 years now.

hi guys. i just happen to read this and trust me i was really annoyed. the reason is because i own a safari from the last 5 yrs now and i never encountered any issues. the only problem i face is electricals and i really feel thats okay. in the last five years my car never broke down.

sure scorpio is a great car but when it comes to comfort and space there is no match for safari. the reason i can say it is because my dad owns a scorpio and i have driven it. when i drive it i really fell like i am sitting in any hatchbacks cabin

the safari in my view is a little outdated as far as the tech is concerned and also the scorpio has made itself advanced in the same in recent times.

What tech exactly is outdated when the two vehicles are compared side-by-side?
