The safari is a bigger vehicle compared to the scorpio(length mainly) so city use would be marginally better with the scorpio.

Also sales and service from Mahindra would be better.

Do take a TD and list down your preference and revert back.

It was in Jan when I set my mind to buying a new SUV, I had spent a months researching and evaluating different type of cars  to choose something to suit my needs which were:

*Power and strength
*Reliability
*Suitable for long Drives
*Off-roading/trips
*decent fuel economy

all this with a budget of under 10 lacs

Also, the factor to consider was to avoid repeating my previous BIG mistake..that was to go for anything like the safari, which was a real pain to maintain. it bleeded my pockets as it broke down everytime.. selling it off gave me a huge sense of relief!

The launch of the new [mighty muscular 2009] scorpio got me interested but I was quite skeptical in the beginning. But looking into the details and getting a few reviews personally from a few people really gave me a strong feeling about this car and about how it might just be the ONE!

The interiors are well done and are as good as the safari with a few nice touches added to make it look impressive.

The maneuvering and power of the vehicle is something you feel it as soon as you start revving the engine, the handling is brilliant with climbs and no wonder these scorpio and mahindra jeep owners wrestle at their great escape events.. great stuff!

Long drives are very smooth in a scorpio, it never break downs-- even in the toughest conditions. Good roads, Bad roads, potholes, rocks, slippery surfaces...the wheels keep grinding like an engine and they obey nothing but the driver-- which can be experienced when you hit the brakes at even high speeds. the feeling of complete control over your car and the road is simply amazing. With a scorpio I really feel like im dominating the road!

Now, its really got me thinkin..about their tagline "nothing else will do"

The fuel economy is perfect and the micro-hybrid start-stop tech thing is not just fancy, but it works decently.

Mahindra service standards have greatly improved over the years and definitely 10 times better than the tata ones.

Gettin the SCORP was the best decision I made; the power, the torque and the handling and the mileage..perfectly balanced out with the macho muscular looks ..all supported by the mahindra brand which is now creating waves in the world..with launches in australia, US... the new world-class SUV coming up next year. A forbes fab50 company... Expect nothig else!

@Sameer

Just asking: How does Xylo compare with Scorpio?

Anyone to share experiences as clearly as done just previously in this thread?

NOw, that i’ve finally bought my scorpio, i feel free to vent out my frustration at my previous owned pain-in-the-*** vehicle called the tata Safari.

1stly, "safari", if you ever take it to a real safari, it’ll break down!

a so-called SUV, try off-road driving, it will NOT climb! and will keep revving with irritating sounds and then again..BREAK DOWN!

and whenever it broke-down getting it repaired was horrifying! the parts are expensive and tata service is the worst!

the interiors are alright but the exteriors are so boring, the front part looks like a DUCK’s beak!

the car is not sturdy and is very prone to dents whisch are again very expensive to repair!

I can go on and on about so many instances where i had the urge to throw the car down a valley..but i’m frankly tired of talking about it and im very glad that now i’ve bought the scorpio, which is a very sturdy and powerful well-balanced car.

The next thing i'm gonna do is to take it to an MGE rally! these pictures are just too tempting.. http://picasaweb.google.com/scorpiorefresh

Doesnt seems like you are talking about safari as its absolutely opposite of the charactersitics of safari... Anyway sometimes things do not work the way you want. And Congrats for your new car

@Puneet - in my opinion Scorpio and Safari, both are good cars, the indian made SUVs. And they do have different characteristics or features which may or may not suite to a person. As Binoy has advised, do take a TD of both the cars and check the features they offer. Based on your requirement decide which suites you best. Generally Scorpio is considered better wrt requirements people have these days as it has more and better features then safari. But the ride quality will differ for both. Some may like Scorpio and some may like safari. Thats why you are requested to take a TD and decide wisely.

All the best for your purchase.

Dear Sameer, there are situations where things may or may not work for someone. I am not MOD for this forum but as an active member its my responsibility to inform you that this is not the place to vent our your frustation. If you have any issues or problems, we are always ready and happy to help you out but would request you to check your language and attitude.

Further, this thread was requesting a comparision for two cars, not asking to vent out your ill-fated venture with a particular car. Because you had a bad experience does not mean that the car or the company as a whole is bad. I bet even today you will find more enthusiasts and likes for safari than the one declaring it as bad. Its in the favor of our forum and its environment that we should avoid indulging in such debates. We are here to help but not to give decisions on any particular topic or incidence. Please try to be more hostile in your approach onwards. We value your experience and would like you to help other mates in clarifying their doubts rather than showing a bad picture of something which may or may not be true.

Hope you understand.

Sameer,

Please refrain from making harsh statements based on on-off experiences.

If it was such a bad vehicle then it would not be making good sales.

Do have a look here.
