Hi Every One,

I thought of starting a new thread where in we can share Torque Curves of various cars. Let me start by sharing the Torque curve of My new ANHC iVtec 1.5.

The idea is that people can know about their cars in depth as to how they perform at low RPMs etc.

City

MOD: Please move this topic if not under the correct heading.

Thanks,

@Vikas,

Looking at the iVTEC curve upto about 4800 RPM - it has an almost linear power-RPM relation for the entire RPM range, and the torque too is almost linear with RPM. Basically a (very?) good engine...operating almost as if its an electric motor. However given the shape of the torque curve there's no definite sweet-spot where you get the best mileage...in all the mileage appears to be directly related to how much you rev the engine (good or bad depends on application or driving style).

Safari upto about 3000 RPM - again power-RPM is very much linear but torque increases rapidly between 1000 & 1500 RPM (typically diesel - good low end torque). Between 1500 & 3000 RPM the torque is almost constant - good region to extract maximum mileage (2000-2500 RPM being the best).

Rohit, that is the precise reason why I like the i-DSI better - a sensible peak torque @2700 RPM pretty much decides how you will use the vehicle.

The new iVTEC, on the other hand pretty much takes the nerdy side out of the whole picture - drive as you wish, get as it gives!

Convenient, but staid, isn't it?

Edit: Vikas - check the Swift link - seems to be broken. If possible, post the curves here.

And Yes, thanks for the info, buddy!

Yes krishna...and it just occured to me that the iVTEC is more suited to a constant ratio transmission (or less no. of ratios) - just like an electric scooter...

@ Krishna,

I am not able to post the photos here. May be i might need some authorisation. Can you please help me with your mail id. i'll mail you so that you can post.

@ Rohit, I have seen lot of people sharing that they archive mileages as high as 21 on iVtec if the constant speeds of above 100 on 5th gear on highways.

But i do wonder, would i ever be able to reach to the peak of that curve on my ANHC?118 PS @ 6600 rpm???

Vikas,

I too never figured out how to use the Photo Album section here on this site.

What I do as a routine is upload whatever you have on a Flickr or photobucket or Picasa, and copy the link location of the image, and use the insert picture tool (fifth from the right on the post editor window toolbar) to insert the picture directly in the post.

One should do this if there are just a couple of snaps to help illustrate the point being discussed. For Car snaps and other pictures that make sense viewed together, the photo album is apt.

BTW your links are messed - they are from your view, and don't appear correctly. Request MODs to correct if possible

Visiting your photo album, I saw with a caption of SWIFT, two power and two torque curves, color coded. But there is no mention of which curve belongs to which model etc. (From the torque curve, they appear to be Diesel, that's all I can say!)
