Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first car, A Star Vxi. Got a few things to understand though.

  1. Should I change to Alloys right away, or wait for, say 6 months?
  2. Looking to buy Black Metallic. Red was also nice, but I'm concerned it might fade if parked under the sun.
  3. Where to go for the accessories? MGA or some good Car Jewel Shop?
  4. And the most important part are the discounts!! Going to book on October 1. So I'm expecting more offers for Diwali. But many say there wouldn't be more offers for Diwali. All I'm offered is a Rs. 10,000 cash offer, and nothing else. Has anyone been luckier in getting more discounts? How much can I expect in the form of cash discounts?

The OR price of A Star Vxi offered to me in Madurai, Tamil Nadu is Rs. 4,20,000(Sep., 2009). Kindly clarify my doubts.

Regards,

Naveen.

@ ajanth, welcome to carwale.

it is good to fit alloys. it is up to u when u want to get it fixed. straight away is also good.

it is better to go & find the wheels from outside as ull get a wide variety of choices & cheaper rates than the showroom.

for discounts, astar is going on with good discounts, if u have any other dealer in ur city than try finding out the quote from him also so u can compare & try bargaining hard as much of discount u can get is good & bargain for free accessories too like sunfilms, mud flaps, matts & all as generally all these are provided complimentary by most of the dealers.

Thanks Roadster,

Yeah, I have the value of changing to alloys in mind. When I change now, they say they'd consider my regular wheels as only scrap, and I'd get around Rs. 400 less...! That'd be Rs. 4k per Alloy Wheel at MGA.

Regarding the discounts, if one tells me a more clear picture of how much I should keep in mind, it'd be helpful for me to bargain. As of now, I don't know where should I stop with the discounts...

@ Gouri Shankar, I'm not too sure if I'd get that much down south! I'd be lucky if I do get...
