Times of india front page says petrol sx4 manufacturing has been stopped for a face lift version of the sx4...

In the mean time the diesel version might show up in two months time...

sx4 petrol, new version will come in three weeks time...and might end up coinciding with the launch of diesel version...Pretty neat i guess...looks good...specially the front buper redesign...more robust...

Diesel SX4 wont be launched this year

Maruti had promised that 2009 was going to be the year of increasing its presence in the diesel end of the market and had plans to push its premium sedan SX4 into the diesel category. But the company is running into delays in procuring the diesel engine from Fiat.

Fiat is already a supplier for Suzuki's SX4 range in Europe with a 1.9 litre engine.
In India, Maruti is keen on a 1.6 litre engine to help keep the price tag relatively lower but currently Fiat has licensed Suzuki to make only the 1.3 litre unit in India, not the 1.6 or 1.9 for that matter.

Maruti was keen on launching the diesel SX4 since Honda's new City came in to the market in October last year.

But Fiat did not want a clash with its new Linea that came into India this January. Fiat is expected to first launch a more powerful diesel Linea and that’s why the SX4 gets pushed to 2010.

This may not be great for Maruti as the SX4 has been steadily losing share with the Honda City now outselling the SX4. In the last six months, Honda sold 15,000 Cities while Maruti sold just 8000 SX4s.

Maruti is hoping the diesel SX4 revives the model's fortunes as it currently also gets cannibalised by the Swift Dzire.

Maruti is sticking to its volumes strategy and the new SX4 will only add to that but by ensuring that the engines are made in India, Maruti is also keeping one eye firmly on the margins.

I guess suzuki has put their hands in too many things...

Whether its hatch back or premium sedan..."KIZASHI"

I am waiting for kizashi, wanna see whether it will be able to cut the cake...

My speculations well it will be able to make a mark...

@ Dr. Abyshines,

Though the first look of KIZASHI looks amazing, but i am not sure how much they would have to alter in design to make it compatible for indian roads. Lets wait and watch the final product. I am also looking forward to that car and how Honda Civic would react in competition

True but working out the present scenario...maruti isnt doing much to destroy the looks of the original car that comes from suzuki...SWIFT,SX4,A star,RITZ...

And besides doing changes to KIZASHI will cost maruti a fortune...LOL

They might not manhandle that hot stuff i guess...

I am dying to see that ''something new is coming''="KIZASHI" run on indian roads...

I truly appreciate suzuki for growing up with the market slowly...and bringing affordable cars...

The car looks hot for sure. Though the LED lights concept on the head and tail lights seems to have copied from AUDI :-P

Hi,

I have also read that they are putting a new engine in the revamped SX4. Any word on that? I have read that it will be more powerful then the current engine on SX4. The new look is certanly better than the current one. If they can also make the car more powerful then its current avtar, it can certainly take on the City on its own, without the deisel version.

I think the bigger cut has come from Dezire rather than the City. Desisel Dezire is luring a lot of customers to go it rather than the SX4. I feel the price point is a bigger consideration for Indian buyers. So they compare deisel dezire with SX4, rather than the SX4 vs. the City, which is a segment higher in terms of pricing.

I also hope that Maruti improve the interiors of SX4, a touch more. Now after owning the SX4 for two years, I still find the looks attractive and drive quality excellent. The only thing that this car lacks, are the quality interiors, that Hyundai, Ford and Honda provide.

Sx4 is going to have same CC but will have increased Bhp.  Interiors will also get face lifted.
