2150 is a grey model. Same as 2190, just the change in model number.

638 would cost around 1500-2000.

Hi Guys

After doing some reading, I came across an opinion that "adding components without an amplifier may not be a good idea". Is it so. I was planning to buy 2190 and GT5 S265C. So is it better to go for GT5 S265 Coaxials instead ?

I dont have any plans to install a Amplifier now or later.

Any idea about the output of 2190 ?

It is preferable to have an amp when you have comps. Not mandatory.

I am not a fan of GT5 components. Try GTO components. They are way ahead.

2190 gives an output of 18 WRMS per channel and 50W Peak.

Thanks Ami for the reply

Why I had opted out of GTO 608C was because it has an RMS of 70W. 2190 has an RMS of just 18W. GT5-S265C has RMS of 50W. I read somewhere that the output of HU should be at least half of the Speakers. So I thought GT5 is a better match eventhough its frequency response is not upto GTO.

One more disadvantage of GTO 608C is that it has 2ohms impedance, while for GT5 S265 it is 4 ohms. I understand that when impedance is lower, it is good with amplifier while for just HU and speakers higher impedance is better.

Dont buy differnt Ohms rating for Front and Rear. Please check spec of Head unit if it supports 4 Ohms then buy both speaker with 4 Ohms only.

The 2 Ohm GTO speaker will work just fine with the HU. No need to worry about that.

@Ashwin: Why cant we buy speakers with different ohm ratings for front and rear?

I tried doing the same thing in my ICE setup.  Front 4 Ohm and rear 2 Ohm speaker connected to 4 ohm receiver found lot of distortion in the rear speaker even at the medium level volume and it also affects the front speakers.

There is a risk of damaging the HU or speaker coil at higher or max volume.

Don’t do this it my advice.

I guess it should be some other problem.

I've listened to a lot of setups and haven't faced much issues with them.
