roll on floor laughing --> rofl

dance -> \: D/

rose --> @;}-

giggling --> ;))/;-))

clapping --> clap

waiting --> :-w

waiving --> :-h

blushing --> :')

these are all I can remember rt now. and I guess most of them I remember from Yahoo Messenger. I will try to post some more as and when I remember.

Guys, please give your inputs as well.

Edit: the dance one I posted is actually like "\ : D /" without spaces in between.  it parsed the colon and D together as grin, as per current emoticons.

How does some members manage to post some emoticons (eg: clap) which is not available from our list in editor?

Emoticons are nothing but images. If someone has been successful in posting a smiley that is not standard with us, it means he has used the "image upload" feature. Think of the smiley as any regular image. Smile

They are the .gif images copied from various sites and embedded or inserted into the posts.

I don't prefer going off-site to get emoticons - particularly those sites where you would have to have scripts enabled to access this stuff. Some of those sites are so infected they could give you clap if you tried them!

I would much prefer an alternative that is made available in the standard interface. Looking at the explanation, it should not be all that difficult, just a bit of creativity is needed. CW should not be found wanting in that department.
