Thanks Mr Bharadwaj for the info, but will the 1.6 be also as F.E as the 1.3 , also what will be the expected cost appreciation(Linea 1.3 MJD Emotion pk costs abt 9.5+ Lacs on road mumbai), Well i feel the car will become very much peppy with the 120 BHP power. The us version of the SX4 dosent show any big changes, but read on various car related websites tht maruti will significantly spruce up the interiors ( Also as per info shared by Mr Tyagi) in india??, may be i will wait till the linea is launched with the 1.6 and thn decide. I guess , if really fiat will give a through rethink on the transmission , linea shall win hands down over HC & SX4. Only time will tell !!!

Hi

It is a diesel so it will be FE so no worries about that.

Priced may be 50000 more.I just taking a guess here but they will price it definetly competitive against the diesel verna

@ siddhesh,

yes the 1.6 will also be that much efficient only because that engine is made with more newer, better & cleaner technolgy. it will be more advanced than 1.3. the price may go up by around 50k rs but that should not bother much.

there are also chances to fiat launching its duologic gearbox in the new linea.

so keep our fingers croseed & hope for the best from fiat.

yes it would be wise to wait for the new engine as it is round the corners.

Thanks Mr Bharadwaj & roadster,I wanted to book a new seadan two weeks back as i wanted the delivery during diwali, but postponed the same as i didnt like any car as a complete package at such a price range. Anyways thanks to all of ur  inputs i think i have definately saved the heartburn of buying a old version on the verge of the new variant launch.

For victor, I had seen a linea being towed on JVLR near seepz around 3 weeks back, then one being towed on andheri link road near goregaon , one stalled vehicle on palmbeach last week and one stalled vehicle again some 4 weeks back on jvlr.

Yes Vs -  Well the matter of fact at that point of time i was seriously considering to book the linea, my attention was diverted even  more to those broken down vehicles. I saw 2 cars being towed away by non police tow trucks, one was broken down on the road and the owner had opened the hood and was standing in front and one i saw last sat , on the side my daily travel road and stones kept to avoid the vehicle. Now all these definitely suggest that the vehicles had broken down.Well at the end of the day that thing is a machine and can break down but so many, i was really shocked and after that only gave a through rethink abt my plans for linea. Definitely linea & punto are very good cars , but you dont want to buy a new car and expect the same to give problems like a used one. I read many reviews on linea on car wale , wherein the owners have complained abt the car, Well only time can tell about the seriousness of fiat this time around.

As far as my choice goes, i will only decide once the tweaked sx4 is out, i saw US website of suzuki and the 2010 verson dosent have any major design changes in it so will make my decision only after again going through each car.

As far as the compaison of linea with the fiesta goes , i had driven both petrol lineas and not the multijet one. The multijet engine is a very known engine in india today ( even the sx4 is going to be equiped with a fiat multijet engine)and i as such dont have any doubts abt the diesel version of the linea ( Fiesta 1.4 engine also delivers abt the same PS power of the multijet), since i dont have much running i was only looking for a petrol car. I read on the international website of linea abt the 1.4 t jet engine, the same punches out 120 ps power, I feel the same can bring some respect to such a beautiful car.

Can any one tell me weather maruti is gonna launch the sx4 this week??

Dear Siddhesh,

I always practice and suggest "Buy a car after sufficient number of cars have been rolled and adequate time has passed after launch of the vehicle".

On these lines the performance wise feedback from my close friends and colleagues are OK for SX4,Aveo,Fiesta and City .

But the fact is Linea is a sensation and sales is really pickingup but for performance may be we can wait for some more time.

Even in Delhi I have so far seen 3 linea and only one punto on the road.

I dont know but what the reason may be as why it is seen very less in numbers on Delhi roads.

One of my friend who used to work with Him Motors, Delhi told me the bookings of linea is very less and is the same case with punto.

The said friend also told me not to buy linea and punto.

Hi Praveen Tyagi

Did u know that

The Fiat Sedici or SX4 is a mini sport utility vehicle co-developed by Fiat and Suzuki mainly for the European market. The expected production volume is 60,000 units per year, 1/3 to be sold by Fiat and 2/3 by Suzuki, badged as the SX4

So automatically SX4 is also a bad car and know one should buy it as it is partly developed by Fiat.

Fiat award winning diesel engine is used by maruti famously known as DDIS.But we all ignore that.Still Fiat is the worst usless and should not even exisit as they dont know to design a car or a engine

Fiat Grande Punto

May : 191

June : 1501

July : 1784

August : 1819

September : 1502

Fiat Linea

Jan : 1509

Feb : 1262

Mar : 1607

April : 1101

May : 901

June : 911

July : 850

August : 952

September : 1053

SX4

Jan : 985

Feb : 1366

Mar : 1138

April : 1101

May : 784

June : 737

July : 1090

August : 1423

September : 1274

So SX4 is also a failure as it has the same figures as linea

I suggest that we all need to do some study before buying a car to meet our requirements.  If we ask our friends, relatives or anyone they just give off hand suggestion without even asking you few questions back on what you are looking for.

In the good old days, when everyone asked what two wheeler should I buy, all our relatives, friends suggested buying Bajaj scooter instead of 100 cc bikes because "bajaj to bajaj hai" and all 100 CC bikes will have maintenance problems and no resale value etc. All that were falisfied in the last several years.

Also there are people who are not comfortable if they do not follow the herd. They are most comfortable if everyone around has same thing even if they have to compromise on several factors - sometimes not even realizing what all they have compromised because they do not dare to go beyond and explore.

Whenever some body says buy that car just because it is Maruti, or Honda or Toyota - do not fall for that. Every brand has some good designs and bad designs.

You understand what you need and after study conclude which car suits you better.
