i second you victor,even i bought a linea-diesel for the reasons mentioned by you,even i dont travel more than 1200km per months,like you said when you can buy a diesel linea,which is bigger and better than a much smaller city,SX4,why wouldnt we buy one,in fact when i bought,diesel linea was only rs725000 on road which was 1 lakh cheaper than city and diesel verna but was also a better car,SAVINGS GAURENTEED!

Hi Victor

What is the price difference betwwen diesel and petrol linea for same variant, i tjink it may be around 90,000 rupees.

What the running fuel cost difference between diesel and petrol car, i think 2 rupees in city and around 1.5 rupees on highways. So if we average out city and highway running fuel cost it comes say 1.75 rupees per kilometer.

So 90,000/1.75= 51,000 km , So one has to run 51,000km to offset the extra money (90,000) paid for buying diesel car.

Now you can calculate how many years you will take to run 51,000 km. If its exceeding three years i suggest one should go for petrol car.

i how ever feel that all these calculations would be correct for other cars but not linea,since with linea you'll never stop driving and you will be munching more miles than with any other cars,so better to go for a diesel anyways,even other wise diesel has a 85bhp@2500 rpm while petrol has a 90 bhp@4000rpm,but i've heard that the petrol linea's engine sound is as good as music and people even stop the music system to hear the petrol engine sound!

Hi guys!

I second Vs and Bala on this...

I'm a proud owner of Fiat linea petrol(8 days old!!) and im really thrilled abt the car!!

the petrol engine is so quiet,u hv to strain ur ears to hear it!! and im really happy with the FE, though it is too early to comment, and as for performance, once u r past 20ks, the car really zoots off!! and i expect it to be even better as the engine frees up!!

all in all, a great car, real VFM, and real head turner!! I feel like a celebrity when i m behind the wheels!!

Go for diesel only if its above 1200 per month as rightly told by Bhardwaj.

If diesel go for Linea as it has go all the features.

FORD fiesta SXI is the latest model they are offering.  In today's newspaper they are offering Free Insurance, Free maintainance and some more freebies.

Linea petrol is definitely underpowered while Linea diesel is somewhat better but still not close to SX4 in performance,I have SX4 ZXI and it easily gives 14.2 to 14.8 kmpl in city with ac and traffic.It has a powerful drive and excellent ground clearance.The tweaked version will be out shortly and it is definitely worth waiting for.Your run is very small and it does not justify spending loads of money on diesel version.

+1 for bala,

Linea suits alll color.

I have seen linea in all colors in my city and nothing seem to be more cartoonish.  Cool

I have a different opinion here

The price difference between petrol and Diesel = 90000

Assuming Bangalore prices for fuel

Petrol = 50.28

Diesel = 36.8

Mileage for Linea Petrol

City Average =9

Highway Average = 13

Mileage for Linea Diesel

City Average = 16

Highway Average = 19

All figures with AC On

(Above figures are taken from another Carwale thread. For Diesel I would say that these figures pretty much match – based on my experience with Linea Diesel)

Distance in which price difference will be recovered:

Case 1:

100% City driving only Then the cost will be recovered in 27300 KM (roughly 1.5 years)

Case 2 :

70% City driving and 30% Highway driving. Then the cost will be recovered in 32700 KMs(roughly in 1.7 years)

Hence it will not take several years and before second year onwards whenever you drive you will start saving
