What to expect: Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster

Porsche will launch the new 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster for the Indian market on February 15, 2017. Here's what we can expect from the updated models, which get downsized engines and a few cosmetic tweaks.

New engines

The biggest and important change on the Cayman and Boxster range comes in the form of new engine options. Porsche has ditched the predecessor's flat-six units to equip the latest models with turbocharged four-cylinder mills. These are not only powerful, but also more fuel efficient. The India-spec models will be offered with a 2.0-litre powerplant producing 296bhp of power and 380Nm of torque, while being mated to a seven-speed PDK transmission. This powertrain is capable of sprinting the car from 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds.

Cosmetic changes

The updated 718 Cayman made its debut at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show revealing the cosmetic changes. These tweaks might not be revolutionary, but bring in a fresh avatar in comparison to its predecessor. And now this new car is also a part of the entry level '718' range, which includes the 718 Boxster as well. This car had premiered at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Expected Price

Now that the new cars will get smaller engines, we can expect the 718 range to be less expensive than the outgoing models. However, the Boxster will be costlier than the Cayman, which was the other way round earlier.
